Alert Stone Pheasants Lead Patrol Vehicles in Suburban Beijing
In recent days, the Black Panther Wild Animal Protection Station discovered that pheasant-like wild animals, such as the alert pheasant, were becoming bolder and more frequently appearing with people. The beautiful picture of harmonious coexistence between humans and wildlife proves that the biodiversity in the Beijing area is getting better, the food chain is becoming more complete and healthier.

During the spring plowing, farmers turned over the land and returned home for lunch. Several pheasants, necked pheasants, spoon pheasants, etc., followed closely behind them into the field to forage for earthworms and silkworms. The Black Panther Wild Animal Protection Station's patrol vehicles went into the mountains to patrol, and the stone pheasant even ran ahead to lead the way, without fear!Stone pheasant, necked pheasant, spoon pheasant – commonly known as 'wild pheasant' in folk tales. They are common wild animals in the Beijing suburban mountains, and their vigilance is relatively high, making monitoring very difficult and rare to photograph.Black Panther Wild Animal Protection Station Station Director Li Li introduced.
In the 1970s and 1980s, due to the low level of publicity of wildlife protection laws, the number of pheasants in the Beijing suburbs was not many. In recent years, with the increasing popularity of wildlife protection laws and the gradual enhancement of people's wild protection awareness, the number of pheasants and other wild animals has been increasing year by year.
Pheasants are at the lower level of the food chain, and their increase indicates an increase in the number of wild animals that feed on them. 'In our monitoring, we found that the number of cats, roe deer, gazelles, and wild boars has also been increasing year by year and becoming less afraid of people. This shows that the biodiversity in the Beijing area is becoming richer and the food chain is becoming more complete and healthier.' Li Li said.
