On the morning of March 18th, a 'large bird' appeared in a residential community in Ya'an City, Wuyuan District. After receiving a phone call from concerned citizens, the Wuyuan District Public Security Bureau and the Bird Protection Association immediately rushed to the scene to rescue the 'large bird'.
Upon arrival at the scene, staff from the Bird Protection and Observation Association saw the 'large bird' mentioned by residents. After identification, it was determined to be a black-necked crane, a national level protected species, with no apparent injuries. It was initially judged that it had become weak during its migration and accidentally entered the residential community.
Subsequently, the staff brought the 'stranded' black-necked crane back to the bird protection observation point to feed it small fish and water. After eating, the crane's spirits gradually recovered. Currently, the black-necked crane has been sent to the Bifengxia Wild Animal Breeding and Rescue Center for further feeding and observation, and will be released back into the wild after it fully recovers its strength.

It is reported that black-necked cranes are migratory birds and are a national level protected animal. They are rare cranes that live in high-altitude areas. Black-necked cranes migrate through Ya'an, Lushun Dawhen River, and Tianquilan every year, and the silhouettes of migrating black-necked cranes can be seen in places like Ya'an, Lushun Dawhen River, and Tianquilan, but black-necked cranes appearing in urban residential communities are relatively rare.
The area along the Qingyi River in the center of Ya'an, especially the water dams, Taohua Island, and Wujinzhan, have historically been reed marshes and tidal flats, which are habitats for many rare birds.
In recent years, Ya'an City has highly valued bird protection and has invested to improve and optimize the ecological environment of the bird aggregation areas above 'one river and three rivers', providing natural habitats and food sources for many rare birds. Numerous rare birds, such as the Chinese Fall Sandpiper, Black Stork, Black-necked Crane, and Blue-headed Duck, have been recorded in Ya'an's bird association.
