Sichuan Online Reporter, Wen Sa
At 9:30 AM on March 31st, while conducting patrol work in the Lanbo River Nature Reserve in Qian County, patrol personnel were carrying out comprehensive wild patrol operations at Four Bridge Gully. During the patrol, the patrol personnel suddenly heard the sound of animals, based on their years of experience, the patrol personnel judged that it was an animal calling for help, they followed the sound and found a golden monkey trapped in a tree hole at an altitude of about 2400 meters. The golden monkey was observed to be weak, with a poor mental state and weighing approximately 15 jin, was a female sub-adult and a national level protected animal.

The patrol personnel immediately conducted careful patrol around the golden monkey, and found no other golden monkey groups active. To ensure safety, the patrol personnel deliberately made sounds to test the monkey's reaction, but the monkey, upon discovering the patrol personnel, simply watched them while remaining in the tree hole, indicating that it may be injured or sick. Therefore, the patrol personnel decided to capture it, subsequently examined the monkey's body. Through examination, the monkey had no external injuries, it was preliminarily judged to be sick or hungry, which caused it to be weak and unable to keep up with the monkey group, leading it to be separated. If no rescue was implemented, the golden monkey would quickly die of illness and hunger. The patrol personnel decided to implement a rescue, subsequently captured the monkey and escorted it to the nature reserve for treatment and reported it to the Nature Conservation Department.

At 9:46 AM, upon receiving the report from the patrol personnel that the golden monkey was sick, the Nature Conservation Department immediately reported the situation to the unit leader. The unit requested that the patrol personnel first take appropriate protective measures; second, ensure that no harm is caused to the golden monkey, immediately escort it to the nature reserve, observing the monkey's condition throughout the process; third, continue to strengthen patrol in the area and report any issues promptly; fourth, immediately report to the Qian County Forestry Bureau's Wild Protection Division.

At 9:54 AM, the Nature Conservation Department immediately reported the situation to the Qian County Forestry Bureau's Wild Protection Division, which promptly contacted the Bifengxia Animal Park Rescue Center and prepared for the monkey's rescue.
At 1:10 PM, staff members from the nature reserve, the Qian County Forestry Bureau's Wild Protection Division, and Forest Police jointly escorted the golden monkey. At approximately 3:00 PM, the golden monkey was escorted to the Bifengxia Animal Park Rescue Center. Through the examination of the rescue center veterinarian, it was preliminarily diagnosed that the golden monkey may have parasites, combined with hunger leading to weakness and inability to keep up with the monkey group. A more accurate diagnosis requires further examination, therefore it was decided to keep the monkey at the Bifengxia Animal Park Rescue Center for treatment until it recovers, and then conduct a comprehensive evaluation before deciding to release the monkey back into the wild.
