Hello everyone, this is Little Blue's Fish Keeping Diary. I also raise Daphnia, and I'm here to share my experience with Daphnia raising. I've been raising them for a long time, and it's actually not difficult.
Daphnia, shrimp, live food. This is my experience and suggestions for breeding Daphnia. Family raising, the most concise and convenient.
Enough for my fish to eat, minimize the trouble.
First, take some Daphnia, prepare three containers.
The larger the container, the better, 10L or more.
The three containers are to prevent one container from deteriorating in water quality, which would lead to the death of the cluster. Then, breeding a large number of Daphnia would be difficult.
First, look at the water quality problem. Daphnia doesn’t necessarily need oxygen, but large-scale breeding does. Small-scale breeding is difficult to control, so if possible, use an oxygen pump. Daphnia will gather in one corner of the container, put a stone head on the other side, maintain the minimum impact on the Daphnia, and stay 2-3 cm away from the surface of the water.
Food: We don't have a lot of green water at home, so we prepare yeast.
Milk is second. Add a little yeast to warm water for 5 minutes, and evenly drip it into the water, not too much, once or twice a day, mix a little into the water. After a few hours when the yeast in the water is eaten clean and the water is very clear, add it again. Milk is the same.
Light: Gather the containers in one place, have a light, at night use a desk lamp, small power LED, energy-saving, prioritize.
Green water: Prepare a container, blow it up, then add water from the fish tank, expose it to the sun, after soaking green, take some in and add it to each container to adjust the water quality, let the Daphnia eat more algae will be stronger.
Reminder: Green water can be optional, don't force it, after all, blowing up has a smell.
Change water: 2-3 times a week, suck out the bottom dead Daphnia and the shed shells, buy a few dollars of fish tank cleaner.
Summary: This is my raising experience, low cost, low time, Daphnia is not as difficult as described online, just to avoid cluster death, separate raising, slowly gain experience, you will find it’s actually practical. Containers, foam boxes, buckets, storage boxes can all be used. Fish tank cleaner costs a few dollars, green water is optional, yeast is everywhere.
