One of the Most Beautiful Fishing Villages in Qingdao, Quietly Forgotten by Others – Known Only to Locals

This coastal city of Qingdao is not without its fishing villages. Nowadays, some popular fishing villages, such as Qishan Village in Laoshan, have become internet-famous tourist destinations. In fact, there are still many undiscovered fishing villages in Qingdao's West Coast New Area, though they are relatively low-key, with scenery that's simply outstanding and known only to locals.

The Phoenix Island Tourism Resort in Qingdao's West Coast New Area, also known as Xuejia Island, is actually a peninsula surrounded by three sides of the sea and connected to the mainland in a roughly northeast-southwest direction. Numerous tourist attractions are scattered across Phoenix Island, such as Jinsha Beach and Yinsa Beach. At the southwest corner of the island is a fishing village called Yiming Kou (Fish-Calling Mouth).

The entire Phoenix Island has been developed into a tourism resort. As you drive along the island's ring road, you'll find many tourist attractions. Yiming Kou, originally a typical fishing village, has undergone some changes since developing tourism, establishing some guesthouses and viewing platforms along the coast. Many tourists come to experience the charm of a fishing village.
Compared to the bustling Jinsha Beach, very few people know about Yiming Kou. This village is separated from the island by Tang Island Bay, opposite is the high-rise buildings of West Coast New Area. However, inside the fishing village, you feel like you're in a different world, with vast mudflats along the coast and many small boats moored along the shore.

Although it's springtime, countless seabirds still live on the mudflats, indicating that the waters here are rich in fish and shrimp. Not only do tourists come to chase the tide and collect seafood, but seagulls also come for a meal. Suddenly, flocks of seagulls take flight, creating a spectacular scene.

The name of Yiming Kou is related to fish. During the fishing season, local fishermen often hear the sound of fish calling, and the village got its name from it. Because it hasn't undergone large-scale development, Yiming Kou still retains its rustic fishing village atmosphere.

This season, the sea is clear, with vast mudflats and fine sand, as well as fishing boats moored in the water, combined with the distant high-rise buildings – it's a perfect fusion of fishing village and city.
Occasionally, a speedboat speeds past. There's a lighthouse by the sea, perfect for taking photos. Many local people bring their children here on weekends to experience the true seaside slow life.

Another landscape on the mudflats is the sight of people going 'chasing the tide.' After low tide, you'll find various seafood left on the mudflats, especially shellfish. With patience, you'll always find some good catches. West Coast New Area's bus route 50 directly reaches Yiming Kou, and public transportation is very convenient.
