Asia's First, World's Fourth: This Guangxi Waterfall is Three Times the Size of Huangguoshu and Filming Location for 'Flower of Evil'
When talking about Guangxi tourism, everyone's first impression is Guilin's magnificent landscape. In June last year, my travel journey took me to Guangxi, where I explored the border city Chongzhou (), which borders Vietnam. Here, I experienced the strong border atmosphere and gained a deep understanding of the mysterious Flower Sea (). However, after the journey, what I most liked was the Detian Transnational Waterfall (), located above the border between China and Vietnam.
Detian Waterfall is located in the Daxin County () of Chongzhou City, Guangxi, and is a large waterfall on the Guichun River (), which borders Vietnam. It is connected with the Baniao Waterfall () in Vietnam, and is the first largest transnational waterfall in Asia and the fourth largest in the world. The water volume of the waterfall is three times that of the famous Huangguoshu Waterfall () in China. As a 5A-level tourist attraction, Detian Waterfall has always been a prominent tourist card for Chongzhou. Its unique natural environment has also made it a frequently used filming location for many TV series, including the popular drama 'Flower of Evil' (), which was filmed here.
When looking at Detian Waterfall from the viewing platform, you can see a large waterfall with a drop of nearly 50 meters. The water flow is very magnificent and spectacular. Next to Detian Waterfall is Baniao Waterfall in Vietnam, and the difference in scale between the two is quite significant. Our companions joked that the waterfall's scale is like the scale of two countries, and even nature is very thoughtful to make them so.
Inside the scenic area, you can take a bamboo boat to approach the waterfall more closely, listen to the sound of the rushing water, and feel the cool breeze from the water vapor.
You can see a lot of Vietnamese products in the Detian Waterfall scenic area, and I recommend buying drinks and yogurt from the shops inside, which are definitely worth trying. Previously, there was a border street open to tourists inside, where you could buy a lot of Vietnamese products, but with the comprehensive management and planning of the scenic area, it has been closed when we went.
Detian Waterfall is a definitely worth visiting attraction. There are buses returning to Daxin County from Nanning, but it's quite troublesome. I personally recommend driving to the scenic area. The standard ticket price is 80 yuan per person, which is not expensive.
