Entering Piatou – Gao Che
Step into Piatou, experience a different rural landscape, and get to know this town with its own cultural atmosphere.
Piatou Village Gao Che is located 1.5 km north of the Piatou Town Government, on the northern bank of Huangtian River, belonging to a terraced valley landform. Due to the low river valley terrain, agricultural fields along the river rely on Gao Che (a lifting tool) to draw water for irrigation. Numerous Gao Che are often built alongside the river, giving rise to its name. The area includes Inner Lotus Pond, Bamboo Forest, Gao Che Well Water, New Housing Type Points, Zhongyue Cannon Tower, Grape Arches, and World Climbing Champion Zhong Qixin's human and natural landscapes.
Upon arriving at 'Four Courtyards and Five Lanes', you'll first see gatehouses constructed by extracting key elements from traditional leaning houses, such as roof ridges, railings, wall bodies, and windows. Entering the gatehouses brings you to distinctive folk craft workshops, including breweries, bean workshops, embroidery workshops, sauce workshops, and sugar workshops. Here, visitors can participate in experiencing rice grain brewing and hand-made tofu production.
Strolling through the ancient and charming dwellings, you can feel the rich Chinese flavor. The design of the Guohe Group is distinctive, subtly embedding the themes of 'Happiness, Fortune, Longevity, Wealth' and into the hearts of every visitor.
You can also appreciate various exquisite handicrafts made by carpenters and bamboo workers. Further in, you'll find rows of well-maintained wooden structures, leaning houses with two-story verandas, and a distinct layered design. According to design experts, this design considers two aspects: one is to transform the houses into characteristic homestays, providing tourists with a place to live and explore in depth; the other is to develop rural health and wellness industries, through renovation of courtyards and configuration of vegetable fields and forests, allowing elderly tourists to reside and live a fulfilling life through light physical labor. Simultaneously, to provide tourists with more leisure options, the project plans to construct leisure walking paths and rest pavilions in the back mountain, allowing tourists to climb and enjoy the panoramic view of the village.
Pure and serene courtyard, vacant rooms with abundant leisure. The architecture, theme, and appearance of the Guohe Group convey a leisurely and relaxed lifestyle. As evening falls, carefully prepared delicacies and wine, friends and family gather around to enjoy a joyful dinner. If there's nothing to do, curl up in a rocking chair, read a book, or gaze at the blue sky and green water, watching the smoke from the houses, and quietly daydreaming, letting thoughts become simple and clear.
