Under the Drought, Spring Tea is Particularly ‘Valuable’ for These People; Tea Exploration Team Enters Menghai County Song Village
This is the 5th day that the No.1 Tea Exploration Team of Deep-Level Pu-erh has arrived in Menghai County, Xishuangbanna, Yunnan. The tea team has arrived in Menghai County, and it hasn't rained in Menghai County recently. The average daily temperature exceeded30 degrees

Menglang Town, Big Manliu Village, Menghai County, is about 64 kilometers from Menghai City. Looking out, the vegetation in the mountains is abundant.

Tea trees and various vegetation coexist, and the beautiful and pleasant natural environment gives Big Manliu Village a fragrant tea. The villagers here mostly make a living by growing tea.

Good tea comes every year, but in the past, good tea had no good sales channels, and this village became a famous poor village.
In 2016, a tea cooperative was established locally, which acquired and processed tea from 15 village groups and farmers in Big Manliu Village. The tea farmers' income has become more stable, and it has also facilitated the poverty alleviation of poor farmers.

On March 20th, the Yunnan Provincial Water Affairs Bureau's statistics showed that the current drought has caused 94.5 people and 22.7 ten thousand heads of livestock and poultry to have difficulty accessing drinking water; the area of crops affected has reached 234.7 million mu.

Through the recent investigation, the exploration team discovered that the drought has had a certain impact on the germination of spring tea in the surrounding tea mountains of Menghai County. How is the situation in Big Manliu Village?

Tea farmer Rao Fa Rong told us that the spring tea has only produced very small buds. Due to a long time without effective rainfall, the tea trees cannot get enough water, and some buds have even started to shriveled and withered.

The spring tea in the tea garden has not grown yet. It was originally for the exploration team to 'accompany' the sampling process, so it had to be put on hold.

In Big Manliu Village, the tea making station Rao Fa Rong told us that last year at this time was full of fresh leaves, and the machines were bustling with activity.

Now there aren't many fresh tea leaves that can be harvested.
The primary processing station has no tea to make, and the farmers' income cannot be obtained.
The dry tea garden and tea trees are waiting for the late spring rain.
The spring tea that has been harvested in Big Manliu Village is also very precious to these tea farmers.
The drought situation in Yunnan is still ongoing. The exploration team will continue to monitor the progress of the drought.
