Maldives Honeymoon: Why Choose the Six-Star Finoho and Seven-Star Amilla Islands?

The Maldives has over a thousand islands, which are mainly divided into three categories: uninhabited islands, resident islands, and resort islands. Of these over a thousand islands, the majority are uninhabited islands, a small portion are resident islands, and resort islands account for less than 50. Below is our island selection process. Although the Maldives has many islands, if you consider the time, weather, price, and facilities, you would only need 1-3 islands.

Time

The Maldives has a rainy season and a dry season, and most tourists visit during the dry season, which is from October to April of the following year. This period has good weather and is the peak tourist season for the Maldives, and it's also when prices are highest. There are also large festivals like National Day, Christmas, and New Year, so hotels need to be booked at least 3 months in advance. The low season is from May to September, which is the rainy season. During this time, prices are low, and there are various promotional offers.

Tip: Even during the dry season, it's best to check the weather on Baidu beforehand.

Cost

When selecting islands in the Maldives, we'll see options like 4-star, 5-star, or 7-star levels. There are very few 7-star islands in the Maldives, mainly because they are very expensive. Staying there for a few nights could buy you a car. Most people choose 4-star to 6-star islands. For a 4-night stay, 4-star islands cost less than 10,000 yuan, 5-star islands cost 10,000-15,000 yuan, and 6-star islands cost 15,000-20,000 yuan. The higher the level, the better the service facilities, after all, you get what you pay for.

Food and Beverage

The Maldives' islands have various meal packages, including BB (breakfast included), HB (breakfast and dinner included), FB (all three meals included), and All-Inclusive (AI), which also includes soft drinks and alcoholic beverages at the bar, as well as activities and room amenities. This essentially means you won't have to spend a penny on the island.

Our personal recommendation is to choose HB and FB, as we're already eating breakfast and having lunch after breakfast, and we don't feel the need for lunch. If you get up early every day and exercise a lot, that's another matter.

Transportation to the Island

There are many ways to get to the Maldives' islands, including speedboats, seaplanes, domestic flights, and 'seaplane+speedboat' combinations. Seaplanes are a characteristic of the Maldives, as they fly at a low altitude, allowing you to clearly see the beautiful scenery on the sea. Many people like them, but they also have disadvantages, namely, they are very noisy and expensive.

Hardware Facilities

Hardware facilities mainly refer to the snorkeling level, beach, sun deck, room pool, and the newness of the equipment. If I were to choose, I would recommend considering the snorkeling conditions. Good snorkeling islands generally have good diving conditions as well.

Philophos Island

Many couples choose Philophos Island because it's a luxurious 6-star island with FB three meals included, with soft drinks and partial bar alcohol and beverages. Second, it has a beautiful sun deck. Third, the overwater bungalow price is not expensive, and the price difference between it and the sand bungalow is not much. Fourth, it offers a complimentary dinner at a designated restaurant for honeymoons, a dolphin watching trip, and a champagne cake. Fifth, Philophos Island is a newly opened island, with facilities that are relatively new and have been running in for two years, so overall the cost performance is still good.

Amira Island

Amira Island is not far from Philophos Island, and you can get there by speedboat, which takes about 40 minutes. This 7-star island is quiet and very quiet, so much so that people don't even want to make a loud noise. Amira Island is a popular resort destination for celebrities and wealthy people. Although this island is quite large, there are only a few rooms, only dozens of rooms, and all the rooms are very large. The marine life around this island is very abundant, with many fish and small sharks along the coast. Every household on the island is equipped with a bicycle for easy travel.

Tip: In fact, when you check into Philophos Island, the hotel will usually organize a trip to Amira Island, which requires a sufficient number of people to participate.

Departure Preparation

Passport, electronic hotel confirmation, small U.S. dollar bills, a Visa and Master card, snorkeling mask, wetsuit, waterproof mobile phone case, toothpaste, toothbrush (the hotel in Male doesn't usually provide them), sunscreen, selfie stick, power adapter, etc.

Regarding internet access, two people buying a phone card is sufficient, as Wi-Fi is available on the island. Don't buy an umbrella, as umbrellas are provided in every room on the island.

Tip: If you choose a seaplane or a domestic flight when booking Philophos Island, you will undoubtedly be upgraded to a seaplane, although it may take time. When you arrive in Male, you may be upgraded to a seaplane for free. When you arrive on the island, the island master will greet you and give you a towel and a drink, which is very delicious. There is a dedicated Chinese tourist guide, who speaks fluent Chinese.

The main transportation on the island is electric buggy. You can ride it freely, waving to stop, and the little black guy will wait for you to get on the car before continuing to drive. After you get on the car, he will continue to drive. On the island, the sand is very white, and there are many sun loungers on the beach, which is very suitable for taking pictures. The feeling of living on the island is like living in retirement, with a car waiting for you to go out, and someone will take you to the restaurant, and there is a bar where you can drink beer and watch performances for free.

Tip: When we leave, the hotel will send you a departure notification, and you just need to pack your luggage, and the little black guy will help you move the luggage to the pier, and then you can continue to have a farewell dinner before leaving, and then enjoy the sunshine and sea here.

Regarding clothing, girls can bring a bikini, and boys can bring a short pants and T-shirt. I saw someone wearing a wetsuit, but it's really not necessary, as it's very hot on the island, and the wetsuit doesn't have much effect. If you go diving, a swimsuit is enough. For boys, it's even simpler, just bare-chested, but you need to protect yourself from the sun, as Chinese people's skin is not as resistant to the sun as Europeans'.
