Copper Mountain Scenic Area
Copper Mountain Scenic Area is located in County, Anyang City, Henan Province, approximately 60 kilometers west of Anyang City, at the junction of the XinYang Highway and the HuShan-Shan Highway. It is a national AAA-level tourist area and a national forest park. The scenic area integrates odd mountains, clear waters, and dense forests, earning it the reputation of 'Central Plains Beidaihe, Great Forest Heaven'. The scenic area covers a total area of 74 square kilometers, with the highest peak, Copper Peak, reaching an altitude of 632 meters.
The scenic area possesses unique characteristics of 'one mountain, one water, one temple, and one sacred site' of natural and human landscapes, earning it the title of 'Central Plains Wudong'. During the 'Middle Jurassic' Copper Mountain period, approximately 2.3 billion years ago, there was an expansive ocean. Subsequently, through the effects of wind and rain erosion, thermal expansion and contraction, and earthquakes, the land collapsed, resulting in the enduring masterpiece of nature – Copper Mountain.
The scenic area boasts numerous columnar stone formations within the mountains, resembling monkeys, lions, tigers, sheep, turtles, eagles, frogs, and bears. Their intricate and realistic shapes are truly astonishing and remarkable. Major attractions include ‘Copper Peak Verdant Accumulation’, ‘Bear Stone Ascending Mountain’, ‘Stone Peak’, ‘Sky Bridge Stone’, ‘Dripping Water Cliff’, ‘Heart Returning Cliff’, ‘Hundred-Zheng Cliff’, ‘Qi-Dou Cliff’, ‘Four-Heaven Gate’, ‘One-Line Heaven’, and ‘Cloud Ladder’ – more than forty in total.
The (Xia Yuan Si – Lower Yuan Temple) was founded during the Eastern Han Dynasty's reign of Emperor Ling and flourished during the Sui and Tang dynasties. In recent years, following the principle of 'restoring old structures as they were,' the scenic area has meticulously rebuilt the based on the style of Tang Dynasty temples. The rebuilt features a rigorous layout, harmonious proportions, and an adaptation to the terrain, with varying heights and staggered formations, characterized by white walls and blue tiles, displaying a rustic and elegant appearance. The towers, pavilions, and halls exude grandeur. The entire temple is oriented from southeast to northwest.
