The rain never stopped! The beauty of Venice in the storm also has its own charm, a thousand-year water city shrouded in mist.

Rainy Venice

The memory of Venice in the rain is somewhat dark and damp, because during our three-day Venice trip, it rained almost every day. But because of its splendid historical buildings and unique water city culture, I felt deeply shocked.

We cruised through Venice's main island and the colorful Rainbow Island, as well as the Glass Island, in the wind and rain.

Venice is known as the Pearl of the Adriatic Sea. Because the entire city is built on a lagoon, it has been with water for thousands of years, born from water, and flourished from water, developing a unique historical and cultural landscape.

Venice's transportation, needless to say, is mainly by boat, and the distance is relatively far. The distance is mainly by foot. Besides the many complex inland waterways, there are also many winding and twisting alleys for people to walk.

And the intersection of roads and canals also brings countless characteristic bridges. So Venice is also known as a thousand bridges city.

Standing on the bridge, a gondola slowly passed by. Because of the rain, not many tourists were riding. Riding a gondola costs about 80 euros to rent the whole boat, or you can share the boat with other tourists. However, it's regrettable that due to the continuous rain, it's not suitable to take a boat. We reluctantly gave up the opportunity to experience it next time.

During the rain breaks, many gondola boatmen, in groups of three or two, sat by the bridge, chatting and waiting for the next business.

We were lost in the streets and alleys of Venice with umbrellas. In fact, because there are many tourists in Venice, the commercialization is also very high. In the narrow streets, there are cafes, bars, all major luxury brands, and various groceries. It is reported that because of Venice's constantly rising prices and crowded tourists, the original residents are becoming fewer, and many houses have been transformed into hotels, hostels, restaurants, and other commercial facilities.

So Venice is still very good to visit, and it took almost a day to wander around in these small street shops, and buy all kinds of characteristic souvenirs.

Slowly, we arrived at St. Mark's Square, and suddenly a familiar figure flashed in front of our eyes—it was the famous Bridge of Sighs? It just appeared in a small alley, and most tourists passing by hurried past. Perhaps when you stand here in person, you will find that compared with Venice's many beautiful buildings, it seems so inconspicuous.

In the evening, the rain gradually stopped, and a ray of sunset appeared in the distance. We arrived at St. Mark's Square. St. Mark's Square is formed by St. Mark's Cathedral, St. Mark's Bell Tower, and the Doge's Palace. Zhou Zhou's November Snow also shot scenes here.

I strongly recommend climbing St. Mark's Bell Tower, there is an elevator directly to the top, overlooking the entire Venice city. Thousand-year Venice, at this moment, feels like abandoning all prosperity and returning to a peaceful and quiet state.

The huge dome of St. Mark's Cathedral, and in the distance, a small red Venice building, the contrast shows a very stunning visual effect.

And the only sunset during this period is also the only orange we saw.

Cruising in the storm, visiting Rainbow Island and Glass Island.

The next day, we took a cruise to Venice's Rainbow Island and Glass Island.

This morning the clouds were still very thick, and the small rain drizzled down. To reach Rainbow Island, we had to go to the designated pier to board. When coming to Venice, taking a boat is just like taking a bus, and it may need to be transferred in the middle. I strongly recommend buying a 24-hour or 48-hour Venice bus card, which can take unlimited Venice buses, which is very convenient. When taking the boat, no tickets are checked, but there are staff members on board checking tickets.

From Venice's main island to Rainbow Island takes about half an hour.

Rainbow Island is because the residents of the island painted their houses in all kinds of colorful colors, which looks like a rainbow.

The island is not big, basically half an hour to walk around, we ate a Venetian lunch here. We ordered a black squid seafood pasta, which tasted pretty good, but this meal cost nearly 500 RMB.

And the Glass Island is famous for producing all kinds of glass products. However, we didn't see any suitable glass souvenirs on the Glass Island. We bought two very beautiful Venetian glass cups on the main island. Unfortunately, one of them broke because of our clumsiness shortly after returning to China...

After visiting the two islands, it was almost afternoon, we prepared to return to the main island. The boat schedule was still very plentiful, and there were various routes. When we arrived at the pier, we just happened to catch the last boat to St. Mark's Square.

After getting on the boat, a strong wind suddenly came, and the rain poured in. Although it was June, it still felt cold.

The boat went very slowly, basically a sea area, there was no scenery to see. It took about an hour to gradually see the towering St. Mark's Bell Tower.

Looking at Venice from the boat, the rain and mist make the city more mysterious and full of the vicissitudes of a thousand-year-old city.

Although the weather is not good, we still experienced a different side of Venice during our stay in Venice. Thousand-year Venice, even in the worst weather, cannot hide its unique and beautiful charm.

Looking forward to having the opportunity to revisit Venice and enjoy the beautiful scenery under the sunshine!
