One of the must-visit attractions in Wuding Lion Mountain is Zhesu Temple. Zhesu Temple was founded in the fourth year of Emperor Mo of the Yuan Dynasty, with a history of over 600 years. It now covers an area of 170,000 square meters. Legend has it that Emperor Wen of Chen built a monastery here and personally planted two towering Peacock Pines in front of the Grand Hall of the Buddha. These two trees are over 500 years old, and people call them 'Twin Trees of Heaven and Earth'.

The cultivation of peonies in Wuding Lion Mountain dates back to the Ming Dynasty. During the reign of Emperor Wen of the Ming Dynasty, he became a monk and planted a white peony on Lion Mountain after the '' (Jing Nan Zhi Yu – the Jing Nan Campaign). After 600 years, it still flourishes and boasts large flowers that outshine all others. In 1988, it was rated as 'China's Best Peony' by China Central Television.

The Peony Garden is divided into three gardens: Peony Culture Garden, Peony Viewing Garden, and Peony Mountain Garden. It has 9 color systems, over 120 varieties, and more than 10,000 peony plants, including rare varieties such as bean green and hu hong (rose red), yao huang (yellow), etc. Although it is not as large as the peony gardens in Luoyang, it is a true masterpiece, and it also collects various superior and precious varieties.

In 2005, a delegation from the China Peony Flower Association visited Lion Mountain and hailed it as the 'Four Best': firstly, the earliest flowering; secondly, the longest flowering period; thirdly, the largest flower; and fourthly, the lowest latitude at the highest altitude.
