Black Dragon Pool and Wuda Lake Tourism Scenic Area to Reopen to the Public Starting March 16th
On March 16th, the Publicity Department of the Panlong District Culture and Tourism Bureau announced that the outdoor areas of Black Dragon Pool and Wuda Lake Tourism Scenic Area will be restored to the public, and at the same time, tourist capacity control will be implemented. Black Dragon Pool has a daily peak load limit of 10,000 people and a peak instantaneous load of 2,000 people; Wuda Lake Resort has a daily peak load limit of 3,500 people, and a peak instantaneous load of 700 people. The opening hours for both scenic areas are 9:00–17:00, and Black Dragon Pool will stop selling tickets at 16:20.
According to the principle of dividing tourism scenic areas by level, prioritizing prevention and control, and gradually opening, the outdoor areas of Black Dragon Pool and Wuda Lake Resort will be open to the public starting on March 16th. However, visitors are not allowed to enter Black Dragon Pool's Fengding Tower above, the forest fire prevention area and office area, only the South Gate (main entrance) is open for tourists; the open area in the park is the outdoor area below Fengding Tower. Wuda Lake's open area mainly includes open-area scenic spots, natural landscape, lakeside boardwalks, and some outdoor recreational projects. The indoor venues (rooms) and children's play areas of both scenic areas are still closed, and they do not accept group tourists.
In accordance with the notice on the resumption of outdoor operations of Black Dragon Pool and Wuda Lake Tourism Scenic Area, visitors entering these two open scenic areas must wear masks, conduct temperature checks and register. Visitors must maintain a distance of more than 2 meters from neighboring tourists and not carry out gatherings or activities in the park. The scenic area will strictly implement the work plan and emergency plan for the resumption of operations, strengthen equipment maintenance and safety management, and do a good job of disinfection and sanitation in public areas, facilities and items. It will strengthen daily patrols, guide and control visitors entering the park, and ensure safety.
It is reported that under the careful care of all employees of Black Dragon Pool, despite being closed for a long time, the park had early prepared for the 18th Kunming 'Lingmei Longtan' Azalea Festival, including the '18th Kunming Azalea Festival' landscape sculptures arranged at the entrance and main road of the park. The park has made sufficient preparations and related emergency plans, and is ready to give the order to open, welcoming visitors to admire the flowers. Black Dragon Pool has more than 300 acres of azaleas, and it is the largest park in Southwest China with contiguous azalea planting. Standing at the azalea valley viewing platform, sunlight shines through the towering trees, reflecting on the azalea flowers, which is spectacular.
Black Dragon Pool staff member Zhang Jingyi introduced that currently, the azaleas near the barbecue area in eight-corner valley are in their flowering period, with countless azaleas blooming in vibrant colors. Following the azalea valley trail uphill, the contiguous azaleas in the azalea valley are in their initial flowering period, and it is expected that within a week, this undulating azalea sea will enter its flowering period, and this flowering period will last until the end of April. In the spring, Kunming citizens and flower enthusiasts will no longer miss this opportunity to embrace flowers. At this time, the Black Dragon Pool azalea valley has been ignited by the spring wind, like a magnificent smoke drifting down into the Longquan Valley, waiting for you to come and admire. In addition, more than 10 acres of impatience flowers planted behind the landscape stones on the main road of the park are in their flowering period, with their bright colors eye-catching and dazzling. There are also about 10 Chinese roses in the park that are entering their flowering period.
Park management departments remind visitors that currently, the Kunming City's open parks of Huawu Temple, Wild Park and Xiu Hua Garden are free and open to the public in an orderly manner. However, there have been many visitors without wearing masks, gathering to visit, exercising or dancing square dances in the park, and eating snacks together, all of whom have been persuaded by park staff. Visitors also tend to gather in weekend tours, which brings a lot of pressure to park management. Therefore, it is reminded that visitors should try to avoid peak times, do not remove their masks to take beautiful photos, and should serve the management of the park, and visit in a civilized and orderly manner. The ticket price for Black Dragon Pool is 15 yuan, and business operations are still temporarily suspended in the park (reporter Yang Yan).
