The Most Unique Landscapes of Iceland, Like a Giant Rhinoceros, Are Called Landmarks in Hidden Realms

Iceland is like a mysterious planet, with landscapes that are closest to the surface of the moon. Most people know Iceland from the Northern Lights, but the Northern Lights only appear in winter, not in summer.

When driving through mountains and canyons, there is only us and the vast expanse of the sky. Occasional encounters with cute Icelandic horses and sheep along the roadside add a touch of life to the desolate landscape.

Famous director George Lucas once said that Iceland is the most suitable country for films to be set in, because its topography is simply not like Earth. Almost all the scenes involving the north of the Great Wall in 'Game of Thrones' were filmed in Iceland.

Leaving Route 1, take the 716 and 711 highways to the Rhino Stone. Distant, pointed snow-capped mountains resemble a 'Mount Fuji'.

The Rhino Stone, located in the northeast of the Westfjords peninsula, rises about 15 meters high, and is considered one of Iceland's most iconic landmarks. It was originally a volcanic plug, which was constantly eroded by the sea and eventually transformed into its current form. Standing alone by the sea, it resembles a rhino drinking water. The black sand and black basalt rock appear even more desolate in gloomy weather.

It's no wonder Iceland is always called the 'Last Stop of the World's Cold, Cruel Paradise'. Such natural landscapes can only be seen in Iceland and have been praised as the highest-rated country by leading travel magazines and countless travel enthusiasts worldwide.

Listening to music and enjoying the scenery, it's sometimes desolate wilderness, sometimes green grasslands, the coastal highway stretches towards the beach, and lazy, chubby seals pop their heads out of the water. We eventually arrived in Akureyri, the largest city in the north.

Akureyri is also known as the 'City of Love', because all the red traffic lights in the city are shaped like hearts. This is because of the economic crisis in 2008, when Iceland was in its darkest hour, and the whole nation was working hard to climb out of the trough, so the government replaced the red and green traffic lights with heart shapes to express: as long as you work hard, you can overcome difficulties. How warm the government is!

Akureyri is also known as the 'Northern Capital of Iceland', although the population of the city is not as large as that of the capital Reykjavik, it is still a very warm city.
