The Min River, known as the ancient Shu River, is the largest tributary of the Yangtze River. The water of the Min River comes from the high snowy mountains, enters the flat valley, begins to become unrestrained, runs along at a speed, rushes and surges, and flows vigorously, just like countless wild horses with white frost on their necks, with the power of life, rushes and spreads across the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, crosses the Hengduan Mountains, passes through the Sichuan Basin, and merges into the mother river of the Chinese nation, the Yangtze River.
This has a flow rate of nearly 900 billion cubic meters, nourishing the prosperous Tianfu City. It is precisely because of this that the world-renowned Dujiangyan, this water conservancy project built by Li Bing more than 2,000 years ago, is still irrigating nearly 9 million mu of good land, benefiting 26 counties and cities along the river.
The Min River rushes down and down, merging with the Jinsha River in Yibin, and the Yangtze River flows into the sea. Therefore, this city is called ‘the first city along the Three Gorges River’ . Yibin also has another name, ‘China’s Wine Capital’, and the world-famous Five-Grain Liquor Park is located here.
'Sichuan wine is number one in the world, and the essence is in Yibin.’ The Wine Capital of Yibin is located in the south of the Sichuan Basin, bordering the ‘Roof of the World’ Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the Hengduan Mountains, east of the long and steep Wuling Mountains, WuShan and Dabashan Mountains, south of the cloud, karst, basin and canyon, and the Guizhou Plateau, and north of the Qinling Mountains, four sides are barriers, mainly composed of low mountains and hills, with a climate that is suitable for brewing excellent and pure distilled white wine in the Earth’s latitude.
Five-Grain Liquor originated here, has the best brewing environment in the world, and the added benefit of unique high-quality water sources. Therefore, it is said to have gathered the ‘essence of heaven and earth’ and produced this unique elixir.
Wine lovers love Five-Grain Liquor for its unique aroma, praising Five-Grain Liquor ‘Three cups in the belly, body comfortable, one drop on the lips, full of fragrance in the mouth, aroma lingers in the mouth, and the aftertaste is endless.’ In 1963, Five-Grain Liquor participated in the national wine competition for the first time and won first place. Experts gave the evaluation ‘long-lasting fragrance, rich taste, sweet on the tongue, refreshing in the throat, harmonious flavors, just right, and particularly known for its comprehensive aroma.’ Poet Bai Hang praised Five-Grain Liquor after tasting it, ‘Man’s head is Huang Di, poetry’s head is Du Fu, Jiang’s head is Yibin, wine’s head is Five-Grain Liquor.’
Furthermore, Yibin’s location in the basin has a subtropical to humid monsoon climate, especially suitable for the natural climate conditions required for brewing wine. The mountains and streams, grass and trees, and the soil and stone in Yibin have all formed an inseparable relationship with wine. Therefore, Yibin was defined by UNESCO and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations as ‘the most suitable region on Earth’ for brewing excellent and pure distilled white wine.

'Fragrant a big river, drunk a big river. Fragrant mountains and rivers, drunk time long. Fragrant has fragrant name, drunk has drunk article. Only because the source of the Three Gorges River is a cup of elixir, fragrant and drunk, three thousand years in the world…'
