China's First Pear Orchard – Shu River Ancient Pear Orchard
Gaolan County Shu River Ancient Pear Orchard
Located in Shu River Town, Gaolan County, Lanzhou, the Shu River Ancient Pear Orchard is a masterpiece of Yellow River culture. The Yellow River flows eastward out of the small gorge and then flows northward in an S-shape, circling Shu River, then turns east into the gorge, creating a flat and fertile valley with beautiful scenery. The existing ancient pear orchard is about 1.2 square kilometers, the over-100-year-old ancient pear trees are about 9028, which is a top-level natural landscape wonder. In 2005, experts and enterprises in Gaolan County carefully searched for the ancient pear trees in the pear orchard according to the records of the Wei family genealogy. The two pear trees with a long history of 438 years old, the tallest and most productive winter pear trees and soft pear trees were rated as 'tree king' and 'tree queen'. The two trees are less than 50 meters apart, which are the oldest part of Shu River. The tree king and tree queen have a tall and wide crown, planted in the Jiajing years of the Ming Dynasty (1577), the tree diameter is 4.2 meters, the crown is about 15 meters, the tree height is 11 meters, and the annual fruit output is still more than 2000 kilograms. Since 2012, the Shu River Ancient Pear Orchard has been awarded 'National Grade Ecological Town', 'World's First Pear Orchard', 'China's Important Agricultural Cultural Heritage', 'World-Influencing Chinese Culture Tourism Town', 'National Leisure Agriculture and Rural Tourism Demonstration Point', 'National 4A Scenic and Tourist Resort', 'National Characteristic Landscape Tourism Town', '2016 China Tourist Resort Base' and 'National Human and Ecological Tourism Base'
Qingcheng Ancient Town

Qingcheng Ancient Town, located in the bottom of Sanshui Mountain, Gaolan County, Lanzhou, 54 kilometers north of Gaolan County, is a typical Yellow River Valley town. It is a thousand-year-old town on the upper Yellow River and also a border military stronghold of the Tang, Song, Yuan and Ming Dynasties and is known as 'Yellow River Thousand-Year Town'. The famous attractions in the ancient town include Qingcheng Academy, City God Temple, Luo family courtyard, high family hall, East Tribble Pond, etc. The ancient town has a unique architectural style, exquisite wood carving art, and showcases the ancient history and culture of Qingcheng. It has now been listed as a county-level protection unit, and has been filmed by films such as 'Old Persimmon Tree' and 'Yellow River Wave'
