Yue Wang Lou (Turtle Mountain Summit)
Located in Mianyang City, Sichuan Province, on the peak of Turtle Mountain, Yue Wang Lou was built during the Tang Dynasty by Prince Yue Li Zhen, the eighth son of Emperor Taizong, when he served as the Assassin of Mianzhou during the reign of Emperor Gaozong's Xingchang period. Its scale was grand and magnificent, with a height of ten zhang (approximately 100 feet), ranking as one of the Four Great Towers at the time (Tengwang Pavilion at 57.2 meters, Yellow Crane Tower at 52.6 meters, and Yueyang Tower at 32 meters). After restoration and reconstruction, Yue Wang Lou's grandeur is comparable to that of its original construction. Currently, its height of 99 meters remains the highest imitation ancient building in China (currently, Tengwang Pavilion is 57.2 meters, Yellow Crane Tower is 52.6 meters, and Wanqie Tower is 72 meters, while Yueyang Tower is 32 meters), hence the saying 'Yue Wang Lou is fierce, Yellow Crane Tower is magnificent, Tengwang Pavilion is talented, and Yueyang Tower is elegant' . Yue Wang Lou is the tower with the most recorded poetry and prose in the world, including 154 poems by renowned poets such as Li Bai, Du Fu, Wang Bo, and Lu You (Yellow Crane Tower has 112 poems, Tengwang Pavilion has 86 poems, while Yueyang Tower and Wanqie Tower are well-known for their poems, but not as many), it is said to be 'one Yue Wang Lou, half of China's literary history.' The poets involved are of the highest rank, including the poet Li Bai, the poet Du Fu, and other famous poets of the Tang Dynasty and later, making it 'the first tower of Chinese poetry and prose'.
