Walking Collection | Asia’s Only 3600㎡ Bridge Art Museum

Jishou Art Museum(Jishou)
NO.005 2020/03/24
It's both a bridge and an art museum! Located in Hunan's (Xiangxi), the Jishou Art Museum is the 10th bridge built by art master Huang Yongyu in his hometown, (Xiangxi). The unique aspect is that this bridge, shaped like a (Xiangxi) wind bridge, is also a 3600㎡ art museum with three floors. This 'bridge+museum' combination features a small exhibition hall on the upper floor with a concrete structure, a large exhibition hall on the middle floor with a steel truss structure, and a pedestrian bridge on the lower floor. What makes it special is that it can be integrated into the daily lives of residents in the ancient city while also functioning as a museum. It is considered the only one of its kind in Asia. Inside the building, you can experience the atmosphere of the ancient city while enjoying art without having to make a special trip; simply walk up one floor.
