Dazhoushan is well-known because the mountain has ten thousand acres of wild rhododendrons. Every year from late March to early April, when the spring breeze blows, vast areas of Iris barbata () turn from pink to purple, instantly dyeing the hillsides. It's truly a flow of flowers, a flower waterfall.

This is the best place in Qingdao for spring hiking. Dazhoushan has a typical coastal scenery, fresh and beautiful, magnificent and grand. Follow the winding path and climb up, and you'll be drawn into this purple-red whirlpool. That's when you'll understand what 'flowers in the mountains' means.

The main peak of Dazhoushan is 486 meters high. From the foot of the mountain to the top, the rhododendrons bloom all the way up. People are immersed in a sea of flowers. The crowds and the flower sea intertwine, creating a unique landscape of Dazhoushan.

Dazhoushan is known as 'the first mountain where flying red blossoms in spring'. Regardless of whether it's in a deep valley or on a steep slope, rhododendrons never discriminate against the places they grow; wherever the spring breeze blows, they bloom freely. And you, open your arms and breathe in the fragrance of rhododendrons.

Looking from afar, the rhododendrons on the mountain are like a giant river, cascading down from the high places. In clusters and patches, they are as brilliant as a rainbow, and the flower sea is vast. A refreshing breeze blows, and the rhododendrons sway with the wind, forming a wave of flowers, one after another, towering high.
