National First Batch of Rural Tourism Key Villages – Honggou Village
Honggou Village is located to the east of Banqiao Town, Lizao County, 35 km east of Zhang City and 30 km east of Lizao County. It is located south of the Zhangye Danxia National Geological Park. Provincial Highway S301 runs through the village. The Black River flows through many villages. Honggou Village's advantages can be summarized as ‘one mountain, one water, one industry’ – ‘one mountain’: canyon spectacle; ‘one water’: the Black River; ‘one industry’: grapes.
Canyon Spectacle: Deep canyons present wonders, with Seven-Sisters Rainbow Curtain appearing between the mountains. The ancient city wall beacon reveals the past and present, a natural gallery that enchants visitors. The canyon spectacle described in the poem is located in the middle of Xiao Kouzi Mountain, with red sandstone rock formations, vibrant colors, and dazzling light, offering a spectacular view. Looking down into the canyon, the two desert areas appear like a pair of eyes, which is quite unique and comparable to the Danxia landscape.
Black River Scenery: The Black River flows through Banqiao, with lush green trees and abundant vegetation on both banks, and fertile lands suitable for living and tourism. Besides possessing the most complete varieties of grapes in the Hexi region and the best quality corn seed for breeding, we also have Hexi summer vegetables, special fruits and rural delicacies. Here, there is the legend of Journey to the West, ‘Eight Hundred Flowing Sandlands, Three Thousand Deep Waters’ and ‘I only take one gourd’ from Dream of Red Mansions, offering romantic vibes.
Fresh Grapes: The old hero passed away among the mountains and rivers surrounding the Qilian Ancient Battlefield. Don’t think grapes are always sweet, they are fragrant in the freezing and snowy weather. Mr. Yu Ruian, a prominent Chinese modern political, educational, and calligraphic figure, spent his life in Hexi, and his poem ‘Hexi Road’ expresses both the heroic spirit of the ancient military road and the praise for the abundant products of Hexi. The Hexi Corridor is China’s narrowest transportation route, and 2000 years ago, Zhang Qian traveled through the Hexi Corridor and brought back grape cultivation and winemaking technology, which were spread along the Silk Road. Banqiao Town is located at 38 degrees north latitude, with the superposition of sunshine, gravel, snow mountains and mineral resources, which produces ‘Meeting Heaven Bridge’ grapes, which are large and thin-skinned, juicy and sweet, and have been certified as ‘China Green Food’ for six consecutive years. The ‘Hongqiao Manor’ organic winery, covering an area of 5000 acres, has won multiple awards at the Hexi Corridor International Wine Festival, Asian Wine Quality Competition and ‘Belt and Road’ International Wine Quality Competition.
