It took 10 years to build the Yun An Hotel, costing 33 billion, and finally opened in Shanghai. In 2002, due to the expansion of the reservoir in Fuzhou, Jiangxi, 50 ancient houses and the surrounding 10,000-plus ancient camphor trees were in danger. Local entrepreneur Ma Da Tong couldn't bear to see the cultural destruction, so he organized a grand cultural rescue project.
A professional team composed of botanists, ancient architecture engineers and experts formed to gradually disassemble these ancient villages and transport them to Shanghai, mobilizing a large number of people to repair them.
The original Chinese ancient architectural components, and craftsmanship were broken down into small pieces, and this activity lasted for several years.
Subsequently, An began to participate, and invested 33 billion, inviting top designers to work, using these architecture and cultural relics in the Shanghai An hotel construction, a genuine Chinese hotel began to take shape.
From the outside, the hotel looks more like a private manor, not like a traditional hotel with flashy lights and new facades. Yun An maintained its high-end Chinese aesthetic from beginning to end, and retained a lot of white space. The entrance stone pavement has traces of green moss and weeds, and there are surrounding camphor trees, creating a beautiful scenery.
