Yimagua Canyon, a full 4.5 kilometers long, is the core scenic area of the Yellow River Stone Forest. Inside the canyon, the gorges wind and twist, peaks and pinnacles rise, cliffs hang in the air, and the momentum is magnificent, like an ancient and time-worn fossil corridor. It is said that ancient Mongols once grazed horses here and drove horses to drink water at the canyon's entrance, hence the name. Upon reaching the gorge's mouth, a sudden expanse of clear space, a hidden paradise. Opposite are the desert, sand dunes, and oases, all within view, inspiring a yearning in the heart.

Entering Yimagua Canyon – the Stone Forest Grand Canyon, the ancient Yellow River's eroded Stone Forest group takes you across time and space to ponder; a 10-square-kilometer ancient Stone Forest group, with a grand scale and a dazzling opening. Entering the canyon, the peaks on either side rise, blocking out the sun, and a cool breeze blows. In the transition of light and darkness, the Stone Forest presents a transformation from red to brown. 'Old Zuo Meditates', 'Qu Yuan Asks the Heavens', 'Mulian Far Expedition', 'Moonlit Lovers', 'Ten-Mile Screen', 'Heaven Bridge Ancient Road', 'One-Foot Heaven' and other stone pillars and stalactites, dozens or even hundreds of meters high, of various shapes and forms, strange and wonderful, the Stone Forest landscape is visible everywhere.
