Old Pear Tree Blooms Early at Shimen Park in Shijiazhuang

On March 24th, Shijiazhuang welcomed Spring Rain, and a sturdy pear tree in the west gate of Juqi Garden in Shimen Park presented a profusion of white blossoms. The white, round petals contrasted with red pistils, creating a remarkably pristine appearance. Unlike most pink spring flowers, the pear blossom boasted a snow-white hue, elegant and understated.

According to reports, this pear tree had been growing in villagers' yards for many years when Shimen Park was built in 1997. Due to its vigorous growth, it was preserved and incorporated into the park's greening plan. The tree's age is even older than the park itself. That year, it was also accompanied by a pear tree and a pomegranate tree.

Pear trees are relatively rare in Shijiazhuang's horticultural landscape. Individual pear trees can be found in Juqi Garden in the (Huabei Park) and (Fuqiang Park), as well as in some roadside green spaces. The pear tree in Fuqiang Park is planted in the center of the garden, while the pear tree in Huabei Park grows on the western slope of the garden.

Thanks to timely maintenance, adequate water and nutrient supply, and good sunlight conditions, this old pear tree in Shimen Park blooms exceptionally early each year, six to seven days ahead of the peak pear blossom season in the suburbs of Shijiazhuang. (Hebei) is a major pear-producing province, and every year, the pear blossom season in Hebei begins in late March, with pear blossoms gradually appearing from south to north. Various localities hold Pear Blossom Festivals to attract tourists with these beautiful blooms, which typically last until the end of March or early April.
