Guilin Landscapes Hidden in Guangzhou: A Lesser-Known Forest Park That Looks Like a Landscape Painting
Guangdong's weather is notoriously strange, especially in spring. In the morning, the sun is shining brightly, with temperatures reaching nearly thirty degrees, seemingly arriving in summer, but by noon, it starts to rain. It's not a torrential downpour, but rather persistent drizzle, making everything feel damp and causing a strange sense of frustration. Especially during the recent period of being forced to stay at home, now that we want to go out for a walk, but are met with rain, our outings are entirely determined by the weather. After observing the weather forecast for a long time, we finally waited for a day with no rain, and then our friend pulled us out immediately to see the 'Guilin landscapes' hidden in Guangzhou. It's actually a trip to Dafengmen Forest Park in Zengcheng.

From Guangzhou's downtown area, we drove over by car, but when we entered Dafengmen Forest Park following the navigation, we were impressed by the winding mountain roads for a long time. Fortunately, our friend is an experienced driver, and we finally safely arrived at this hidden gem. Because it wasn't the weekend and not a peak tourist season, we didn't find many tourists in the park, or perhaps this park doesn't have the same level of fame as White Water, so there weren't many visitors.
After purchasing tickets and entering the park, our first impression was that the park was surrounded by lush greenery, creating a truly fresh and invigorating atmosphere. Having spent a long time in the city, we always feel that the air is mixed with dust and exhaust fumes, and suddenly we were immersed in an environment with negative ions, and we felt like our bodies were filtering out all impurities with every breath.
We walked along the park's stone steps, the roads were very slippery after the rain, so we walked very carefully and slowly, but because of this, we noticed the rainwater-nourished greenery, the newly growing tender shoots were still dripping with water, swaying precariously, reflecting shimmering light. The park's greenery is abundant, as if we had entered a small forest, seeing a sea of green brought a sense of joy, and all worries were forgotten. As we walked, we came across Dafengmen Reservoir. The water flowed past the dam downwards, the old dam was covered in moss, giving off an aged scent. The water in the reservoir was very clear, and from afar, it radiated a (yōu-yōu - eerie/hazy) green hue, perhaps due to the accumulation of many green algae at the bottom, or perhaps due to the surrounding greenery reflecting the green light.

We were also able to see the foothills of Nanqianshan in Dafengmen Forest Park, with the continuous mountain peaks enveloped by clouds and mist, and the mountains were layered with lush greenery, and the mist lingering over the mountain peaks made the distant scenery seem like a dream, as if we had wandered into a fairyland and couldn't find our way back. Walking through the park, we could constantly hear the sound of babbling streams, because there were many small streams in the park, some flowing down rocks, others hidden in the dense forest, listening to the sound of the water, we leisurely strolled through the forest, which had a wild charm.
