If you missed the plum blossoms at Meishan Mountain in February and the cherry blossoms at Jinqu Temple in March, you don’t need to be too regretful. Nanjing’s Old Men Dong Street invites tourists to explore, with 4000 square meters of ‘Ipuan Red’ blossoms in full bloom, leading to the blossoming of roses in May and wisteria in June, forming a continuous and scenic flower landscape throughout the spring and summer.

Yesterday, a reporter saw a sea of ‘Ipuan Red’ flowers stretching for half a hectare near the Ming City Wall of Men Dong to the mouth of the Aqish River. Here, the jumping flag, tender (), and mellow (Xiang Yu Zi) layered and overlapped, harmoniously complementing the rustic city wall. From the Aqish River scenic trail, you can climb step by step, and look out, one after another, one cluster after another, some in full bloom, others vying for bloom, the wooden boardwalk beside the lifelike stone carvings, lake stone rockeries, and pavilions with flowing water, making people forget they are in the center of a bustling city. Climbing to Aqish River, you can also directly climb the city wall to Zhonghua Men, overlooking Men Dong, and appreciate the spectacular Qin (Qin Lantern Festival). Daytime flower viewing and strolling through Men Dong, nighttime lantern viewing and Qin River touring, spend a pleasant spring holiday.

Nanjing Historical Preservation Group Project Manager Wang Xinjun introduced that this flower sea is about 4000 square meters, located at the east entrance of Old Men Dong. The best viewing period is from late March to April. In terms of green plant selection, they boldly chose ‘Ipuan Red’, and here there are 3000+ ‘Ipuan Red’ plants, all carefully selected and combined with planting areas, terrain, elevation, and slope, planted in different areas, and invited experts from Nanjing Forestry University and Nanjing Botanical Garden to provide professional guidance. After meticulous care and cultivation by flower farmers, they formed a layered, magnificent flower landscape. As a historical and cultural street, Men Dong has completed the greening of the street, wall, and courtyard in a step-by-step, progressive manner, creating a garden-like exquisite landscape. The blooming of ‘Yulan’ in Gaotong Lane in February, ‘Haizang’ in Wanbiao Bridge in March, ‘ZhiPu’ in Bianying in April, ‘Xiang Wei’ in San Ying in May, and ‘Ling Xiao’ in Zhong Ying in June, forming a continuous and scenic flower landscape throughout the spring and summer in Men Dong, shifting between scenes, giving the ancient buildings more dynamism.
