Not reaching the top doesn't really let you know how high Mount Tai actually is – truly a respected peak among the Five Sacred Mountains.
I want to climb Mount Tai, does anyone have any good suggestions? First of all, regarding transportation, if you choose to take the train, after arriving at Tai Shan Station, you must take a local bus or taxi. If you are a first-time visitor to Mount Tai and accidentally take a private car, don't naively and proactively tell him that you are new; he will only take advantage of you when buying things later. Start climbing from Hongmen, don't worry about getting lost; there are many climbers along the way.
Once you enter Hongmen, the prices are normal, and the vendors are much kinder than those outside. You can buy climbing poles according to your needs. Don't rely on a few dollars, you won't be able to fool anyone. I learned this the hard way – I didn't bring enough cash, so I had to ask a kind brother or sister for a few hundred yuan, but at the time there were too many people and the network was bad, the money couldn't transfer to their WeChat, and they looked at us like we were con artists.
Bring your ID card, bring your ID card. There are discounts available. Food: You can bring some bread or fast food, and you don't need to bring too much water; the prices of food will not fluctuate much with the increase in altitude. When you reach Zhongtamen, food will basically be very expensive, a cucumber will cost four or five yuan. Other items: You need to bring a flashlight. Actually, the difference between peak season and off-season is not much; during peak season, you don't need a single beam of light; I still prefer a crowded environment, because it feels safer. When you first climb Mount Tai, you really didn't realize how high it was. I started climbing at night and didn't rest much in the middle of the way.
The basic feeling is that you look up and think you can keep going, but you won't know that Mount Tai is so high until you reach the final destination. At Nantianmen, the prices are very expensive, and you can choose to rest in the store for a while (but you have to pay), eat a bowl of noodles for fifteen or twenty yuan with not a drop of oil. After reaching the summit, many people choose to rent jackets. If you think it's not hygienic, you can bring a lightweight down jacket. If you go to climb during the Dragon Boat Festival, it won't be so cold. Take advantage of the opportunity at Nantianmen and keep going until you reach Yuhuangding.
I exhausted all my strength to climb up, but I didn't see the sunrise. I am afraid of heights, and I didn't feel much at night. In the middle of the climb, all I could see was the light of the flashlight and the lights of others in the distance, and I didn't realize how high Mount Tai was until the end. Finally, with the help of a friend, I trembled to Zhongtamen, and I almost cried several times. When we reached Zhongtamen, we didn't continue to go down the mountain; we joined a long queue to buy down the mountain tickets and fell asleep very tired on the bus, feeling like the bus was speeding around and around the mountain.
