- Rental car. This part completely depends on your itinerary and time, 10-day itinerary, rental car cost 5k starting. If you choose to travel in summer, that is the peak season to drive in Iceland, self-driving is much more convenient. Drive along the No. 1 highway completely no difficulty, 95% of the road conditions are very good, some areas, the road surface is slightly damaged, but small cars can drive. If you come to Iceland in autumn and winter, most areas in the central mountains will be closed, the northern region often has snow, although small cars can drive, but need snow driving experience.
