China’s First Cross-Provincial High-Speed Rail Line Opens in April: A Day of Tasting Food in Three Provincial Capitals is Within Reach
High-speed rail is currently the most efficient mode of ground transportation. Over the years, China's high-speed rail technology has become increasingly mature, breaking one world record after another. Next month, China will launch a special high-speed rail line – a circular line. This means the starting point and ending point are in the same place.
This high-speed rail line is located in China's southwestern region, connecting Sichuan, Chongqing, and Guizhou provinces. There are three trains, departing from Chengdu, Chongqing, and Guiyang respectively. The line passes through multiple cities and counties along the way, including Zunyi, Qiujiang, Yongchun, Rongchang, Neijiang, Ziyang, Meishan, Leshan, Yibin, and Bijie, before returning to the originating city.
The total length of the line is 1304 kilometers, and the total travel time is approximately 8 hours. It will begin operating from April 10th, with one pair of trains departing in the morning, afternoon, and evening, achieving Chengdu-Chongqing arrival in 1.5 hours, Chongqing-Guiyang in 2 hours, and Chengdu-Guiyang in 3 hours. First-class tickets cost 861 yuan, and second-class tickets cost 539 yuan. Tickets can be purchased five days in advance.
However, most people wouldn't simply take a round trip from the starting station. They would generally disembark along the way. According to the operating times, one could have breakfast in Chengdu in the morning, arrive in Chongqing for lunch, and then have dinner in Guiyang in the afternoon, returning to Chengdu in the evening – a highly efficient way to sample the cuisines of all three cities,
Notably, this railway is not a newly constructed line but an adjustment to the operation of existing railway trains nationwide. By connecting the Chengdu-Chongqing, Chongqing-Guiyang, and Chengdu-Guiyang high-speed rail lines, a new circular line has been formed. Once the trains operate, the three leading cities in southwestern China will be able to connect in a circular high-speed rail way, marking a new starting point for the development of these three cities and the surrounding areas,
