When Things Go Wrong, Remember These 3 Phrases, and Good Fortune Will Gradually Descend
In my life, there was a very dark period. I lost my job after ten years, and my girlfriend left with someone else. Later, encouraged by my relatives and friends, I gathered some money to start a business, but unfortunately, the money was all swindled away. During those exceptionally bitter days, I returned to my hometown to live alone.
Fortunately, a childhood friend was also living in the village, and he was involved in transportation, very shrewd and prosperous. One day, he saw me so depressed and said to me, 'In life, success is not about gains and losses; you must understand these three old sayings of the countryside,' and after listening to his words, my heart suddenly became clear, and I devoted myself to what I was good at. Now, looking back on these years, my life truly turned at the point where he said those three sentences, helping me find my life's direction and meaning, and also bringing about a fundamental change in my circumstances. So, what were the three sentences he said?
First, 'Let bygones be bygones, live well in the present.'
Life is like a flowing stream; there are rushing rapids and tranquil waters. Life is a series of processes, good or bad, you must go through it. Truly intelligent people will lightly put aside past things, those painful and humiliating experiences, let them go, don't repeatedly hurt yourself; those joyful and happy moments, we should preserve them in our hearts and occasionally reminisce about them in our spare time.
However, things that have happened cannot be undone. They should not fill our hearts; our lives must continue, and unknown happiness and joy are waiting for us. Doing well in the present and living well in the present can bring about future happiness.
Second, 'Listen to all sides, and don't be swayed by one.'
Just like when I lost my job and was heartbroken, I desperately wanted to create a chance for myself, and I took money from relatives and friends to start a fruit business. At that time, some friends said that this was a profitable business, while others said I was not suitable for business because I was not shrewd. But I only listened to the good words, and didn't listen to the bad ones, and ended up losing everything.
From this matter, I learned the principles of 'Listen to all sides, and don't be swayed by one.' Listening to all sides means listening to the positive comments about you, and also listening to the critical comments about you, especially those who criticize you, as their perspective is often what we lack. Only listening to good words will lead to failure.
Third, 'Don't be happy with things, and don't be sad with yourself.'
There's a saying, 'The size of your heart determines the scope of your stage.' This means that if a person has a big heart, they have a broader perspective. If a person is only concerned with personal gain and is overly concerned with small matters, they will not go far and will not see more beautiful scenery. My situation was that I only saw that I had lost my job, my girlfriend left, and my business failed, which ultimately resulted in me suffering losses, and my pain came from these losses.
If a person can do this, he will not be so painful and will not be able to get out of the pit. This requires a broad perspective. However, in order to achieve something, one must have a broad perspective. At that time, I lacked this broad perspective.
Today, I'm very grateful to my childhood friend for his guidance. He is not only a shrewd businessman, but also a thinker who enlightened me. A person's life is long, but when a person is at a crossroads and experiences failure, their vision will narrow and their chest will become closed, which will only make their luck worse. Only when we remember these three sentences at critical moments and put them into practice, will good fortune gradually come.
