From Orphan to Genghis Khan: The Story of Temujin
The starry sky spun, and all the tribes rebelled.
You fight for gains, robbing and plundering, unable to find peace.
Boundless grasslands turned over, and all the tribes rebelled.
You attack me, we fight, we cannot rest.
There was no mutual longing, only mutual clashes.
There was no place to hide, only endless battles and killings············
Endless tribal wars inflicted endless suffering on the people of the grasslands, everyone was tired of war and longed for a hero to end it all.
When Temujin, born with the blood of a warrior, ascended the throne, he clashed with Anda Zhabu, and together they waged the Thirteen Wings War. This victory solidified Temujin's khanate.
Due to the betrayal of his mentor Wang Khan, Temujin experienced another period of hardship after the battle of Chaluun-Nur, reaching the lowest point of his life. Only nineteen people remained around him. Exhausted from hunting wild horses on the banks of the Bayan-Nur and Huh-nur rivers, the people of the grasslands saw wild horses as a gift from heaven, not just food. At the horse meat feasts, Temujin raised one hand high, and with a gesture of respect, he offered wine, carrying a pouch of water from Bayan-Nur and Huh-nur, thanking his loyal subordinates and swearing to never forget them. Everyone drank the water and swore allegiance to him. This was the key element that formed the Mongol Empire – the Bayan-Nur oath.
In 1206, Temujin convened the Khuliqi Assembly, where he gathered all the Mongol tribes to discuss matters openly and solicit advice. Finally, 'Also-Mongol-Wulusi' – meaning the Great Mongol Nation – was established.
After the empire was established, all tribal chiefs who submitted to Temujin were elected as the Great Khan, and the divine decree of Tengri (Heaven) was delivered by Patengri, announcing Temujin as Genghis Khan.
