Sharp Knife and Dull Axe

A person's life is like a sharp knife and a dull axe.
In youth, our elders and teachers instill in us the principles of survival of the fittest and adaptation, urging us to embrace an active and forward-looking attitude, like a sharp knife, to confront and overcome all challenges in life. It allows us to grow, mature, and succeed. During this period, we are measured by how quickly we run and how well we run.,As we grow older, the focus of life gradually shifts from career to personal life, returning to the simple pleasures of life. In terms of career, we are judged by who can endure adversity and who has perseverance, who can compromise, yield, retreat, and maneuver, and who can savor and reflect. Like a dull axe, it may not be sharp, but it possesses strength. It represents the accumulation of life, persistence, the patient approach to setbacks, and the contentment and moderation of enjoying life. This period is measured by the quality, length, and happiness index of life.,Life is both a sharp knife and a dull axe. It requires us to be like a sharp knife, proactive and ambitious, creating brilliance; it also requires us to be like a dull axe, full of strength, increasing the depth of life, enjoying life and the splendor of life.
