Li Jin: Longing for Childhood Innocence

It's been a long time, little heart.

Spring sunshine, everything is fine.

Walking along the rural small path, the sunshine accompanies, and the heart joyfully skips.

Taking smaller and lighter steps, increasingly rhythmic.

Oh, this is the so-called 'dance steps' I loved most as a child in the fields – basically just taking a few steps, turning around, and waving my hands forward a few times. Plus, I hum a tune that's not quite in tune.

It's been a long time, my lovely childhood!

I crouched down, bringing my nose close to the alluring primrose flowers, enjoying their fragrance; stood up again, took a small step, and waved my little feet to greet the birds busy at work in the trees; continued to jump and jump forward: the grass sprouted, the trees budded, the ducks had just survived a winter and were desperately bored, so they 'plunked' down and gave it a 'dive' and then poked their heads out, contentedly shaking their plump bodies, and swaying side to side towards the bridge.

This really confirms the saying: 'Spring River Water Warms Ducks First'!

My lips didn't have any traces of smiling, and slightly upward.

It's been a long time, my lovely childhood!

I walked down the riverside along the gray stone steps, bent down and used my hands to scoop up a handful of green water, clear like a mirror; gently let go of my hands, letting it seep down through my fingers; feeling the 'drip, drip' of the spring water;

It's been a long time, my lovely childhood!

I went through the dense bamboo forest, crossed the crisscrossed water channels, and my joyful shadows were scattered across the ridges; leaning slightly, I kissed the golden flower buds of the waist-high rapeseed flowers, the edges of my lips tickled slightly, but there was a sense of vitality flowing; I casually scooped up a small bucket of muddy water with grass tips and mud particles floating; waiting for the water to drain, and suddenly there was a slender, soft-tailed small creature's shadow – a cute tadpole! I extended my right index finger, placing it on my left palm, feeling the vitality of life; a long time later, I suddenly decided to extend my left hand, and the tadpole slid down naturally; I sadly watched it go back to its home; regretted it, wanted to grasp it tightly, but only held a handful of wet mud; the tadpole with my lost childhood, gone forever; wanting to regain it, only left a hazy mess.

Looking into the distance, the western sky, the sunset, the red sun slowly descends. The bridge is splendid.
