Martin Luther King delivered his famous speech,

'I Have a Dream,'

Everyone has dreams,

even if it's just a simple pearl oyster.

Pearl Oyster:

'I Have a Dream!'

From the day I was born,

I've lived with my brothers and sisters in the river.

The fish on the riverbed often mocked our ugliness,

But I always had a dream in my heart.

I dream that one day,

When people remember me,

It won't be because of my dark and rough appearance.

I dream that one day,

I can be associated with beauty

even for just a fleeting moment of youth.

I dream that one day,

I can see the outside world,

instead of always being confined to the silent darkness beneath the river.

Until one day,

I was chosen to nurture pearls.

Only I knew,

I was no longer like others.

Pain had grown within me,

and so had my dream.

Even with immense pain, I would not retreat,

I would use my body to polish each pearl,

watching them grow.

I used my body as their cradle,

providing them with the warmest protection.

I used my own body to nurture them,

watching them become round, smooth,

hard and shimmering with light.

When people opened my oyster shell,

I knew that my life would bring the brightest moment.

I faintly heard cheers and exclamations,

Although I'm just a common pearl oyster,

I had a dream,
