O'Neal & Reebok Shaq ATTAQ PUMP Unboxing - Ripped Panel Edition

Let's start with the cover.

This shoebox is falling apart, just like the Ripped Panelys, even tearing the shoebox apart.

Centers never sell shoes – it's one of the truths followed by major brands. The market reaction is also indeed like that. Center shoes don't sell well, and it's not easy to remember them. Mainly because center shoes are usually quite protective and bulky, plus the small ball trend is increasing. Now traditional centers are mostly pandas, let alone shoes.

This pair of Shaq is the first generation of shoes co-produced by O'Neal and Reebok. At that time, O'Neal was still quite young and not so fat, and hadn't yet dominated the league. This shoe used PUMP inflatable tongue technology to improve the fit, and the midsole also used a large carbon plate for protection. However, cushioning was not using Reebok's common honeycomb cushioning at the time, only used ordinary EVA. This Ripped Panel shoebox is a 14-year reissue, the upper used a cracked-skin material with cracks to represent the shattered basketball panel after Shaq's dunk. Nothing much to say, let's take a look at the real shot photos.

Shaq elements on the shoes.

The insole is full of details.

The inflatable button in the middle of the tongue, the deflation button is built into the side of the tongue.

The cracked upper, I suspect it might shed, but it's pretty solid after pulling it off. Whether this detail is acceptable depends on personal opinion, but as the Ripped Panel theme, it's quite relevant.

The midsole uses a carbon plate, forming an arch support tray inside, which is common in many basketball shoes. The technique is very common in shoes like PUMA and WIND.

The tag is also cracked.

At that time, Reebok loved to use this seamless rubber outsole. Nowadays, it seems that this outsole grip is not very good. It's okay on clean surfaces, but it will be very slippery if there is dust.

Although this shoe midsole only used ordinary EVA, from a practical standpoint, this shoe is still a very practical shoe for competition. The thickness of the EVA material used in the midsole is pretty good. For center shoes, it has a high cushioning limit.

The outsole on the outer side of the forefoot strengthens support to prevent overturning.

The TPU in the heel enhances stability.

The carbon plate running through the entire midsole ensures the anti-twist performance of this shoe, even if a powerful center wants to crush it, it's not an easy thing.

Recently bought several pairs of retro old shoes, in fact, compared to modern basketball shoes, you can see the difference in concept. Modern basketball shoes are excessively focused on technology, and some extreme measures are taken to create a technological feel. But old shoes focus more on the texture of basketball shoes, especially leather basketball shoes. The texture of the original year shoes is very good, not only a practical weapon, but also a work of art. Modern basketball shoes have declining aesthetics. We can only find balance by looking for classic reissues.
