Want to Make Steamed Buns at Home? Adding Oats Makes Them Healthier – Learn How and You'll Never Buy Them Again!
As a southerner, besides porridge and soup noodles, I often eat noodles, buns, and steamed buns. Today I'd like to share the steamed buns I made, which are simple and easy to make, even for me, who isn't good at making dough. I believe you can also make them successfully.

The recipe for the steamed buns is based on a friend's steamed bun. We replaced some flour with oats, which makes the steamed buns chewier. According to Wikipedia, oats are a favorite of fitness enthusiasts. Eating steamed buns with oats is both nutritious and healthy. If you like it, try it! It's great to eat with soy milk or milk for breakfast.

Oatmeal Buns
Ingredients450g normal flour, 30g instant oats, 250ml pure milk, 20g white sugar, 5g yeast powder. The amount of sugar can be adjusted according to your preference.

Cooking Process
1. Pour the flour into a bowl, add oats and yeast powder, and mix well.
2. Add white sugar to the flour and pour in pure milk, and stir into a flocculent state, then start kneading the dough. Today I use a kitchen machine to knead it. Knead until the dough forms a ball and the surface is relatively smooth, then stop.

3. Take out the mixing bowl and cover it with a layer of plastic wrap, put it in a warm place to proof. Or you can put it in the oven and select the proofing function. I'm in Guangzhou, and the temperature is relatively high recently, so it takes about 1 hour to proof at room temperature.

4. About 1 hour later, when the dough has risen to twice its original size, dip a little flour in your finger and poke a small hole in the middle of the dough. If it doesn't collapse or shrink, take it out, knead it a few times to release the air.

5. Roll the dough into a long strip and cut it into segments according to your preference, trying to make them as uniform as possible. I like to cut smaller pieces, which is easier to steam.
6. Put it into an electric steamer, cover it with a lid, and proof it again for 15 minutes. Then, increase the fire and steam for 15 minutes. Don't open the lid immediately after steaming, let it stand for 3-5 minutes before opening it, which will make the buns look more beautiful. If you don't have an electric steamer, you can use a normal steamer, and adjust the amount of water according to the size of the dough.

With just a few simple steps, the oatmeal buns are finished! For a spring breakfast, enjoy a cup of hot soy milk or milk with a few buns – it's nutritious and healthy. Once I learned how to make it, I'll never buy it outside anymore.
