How to Make Bai Cai Xiang Gu Vegetarian Steamed Buns?


Ingredients: 300g flour

  • 20g yeast powder
  • 185g cabbage
  • 70g mushrooms
  • Pinch of scallion and ginger
  • 3g salt
  • 2g chicken powder
  • 3ml sesame oil
  • Appropriate amount of five-spice powder and cooking oil
  • Instructions:

1. Wash the cabbage and cut it into shreds, then chop it finely.

2. Wash the mushrooms and cut them diagonally into strips, then cut them into diced pieces.

3. Place the chopped cabbage in a bowl and sprinkle with appropriate amount of salt, mix well and marinate for 10 minutes.

4. Squeeze out the moisture from the marinated cabbage shreds.

5. Take a bowl, add the cabbage shreds, mushroom dices, salt, and chicken powder.

6. Add sesame oil, five-spice powder, scallion and ginger, and stir evenly to make the filling.

7. Take a bowl, put in appropriate amount of flour, add yeast powder.

8. Pour in appropriate amount of water, stir evenly to make the dough.

9. Put the dough in a bowl, wrap with cling film.

10. Place in a warm place and let it ferment for 2 hours.

11. Sprinkle appropriate amount of flour on the working board.

12. Knead the dough into a thick strip and cut into uniform pieces.

13. Use a rolling pin to roll the pieces into dumpling wrappers.

14. Take appropriate amount of filling and put it on the dumpling wrapper, use hands to form a bun.

15. Pinch a bun shape to enclose the filling.

16. Make the remaining dumpling wrappers into dumplings one by one.

17. Take a plate, smear a little cooking oil.

18. Put the dumplings on, wait for use.

19. Boil water in an electric steamer, put the dumplings in, cut off the power.

20. Cover with the hot steam from the steamer.

21. Turn on the electric steamer and set the timer for 15 minutes to steam the dumplings.
