Tired of Stir-Fried Rice Cake? Learn How to Bake It with Garlic Chili Sauce
Regarding the ingredient 'nianga' (rice cake), most people prefer to make desserts or stir-fry it. Besides these ways of eating it, 'nianga' can also be baked, with a crispy outer shell.
When I was a child, there were often small stalls selling fried skewers outside schools, pushing a tricycle with a glass canopy on top, displaying various skewers brushed with sauce, which were particularly delicious. Among them, this baked 'nianga' is unforgettable.
Ingredients:
Rice cake, sweet bean sauce, garlic chili sauce.
Instructions:
I bought the kind of vacuum-packed 'nianga', which is hard. First, I steamed it a little to soften it, then used skewers to string it.
I arranged the strung 'nianga' on a baking rack and brushed it with oil.
Bake the 'nianga' until the surface turns yellowish and puffy, then brush it with sweet bean sauce.
I like spicy food, so I added a little garlic chili sauce. If you don't like spicy food, you can omit it.
Finally, I sprinkled some cumin powder and five-spice powder, and a little white sesame seeds, and it's done. Isn't it simple? If you don't have a baking rack, you can also directly pan-fry the 'nianga' and brush it with sauce.
