Ingredients: 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 cup softened butter, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, 3/4 cup brown sugar, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 2 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1 cup chopped nuts.
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375°F. In a small bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Step 2: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar on medium speed until medium, or about 1 minute with a spoon until fluffy, scraping the sides of the bowl occasionally.

Step 3: Beat in the egg and vanilla until smooth. Fold in the flour mixture until just combined (the dough will be stiff). Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts.
Step 4: On an ungreased cookie sheet, drop spoonfuls of the dough, 2 inches apart.

Step 5: Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until lightly browned (the center will be soft). Let cool for 2 minutes on the cookie sheet, then transfer to a cooling rack. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.

For optimal results, bake the cookies on the center rack. For even baking, it's best to bake one sheet at a time.
The best cookie sheets are shiny aluminum, with a smooth surface and no sides. They reflect heat, ensuring even baking and browning. Cookie pans with rims are excellent in many ways, but not ideal for cookies.
