Want to Eat Pizza but Don't Buy It, Make It Yourself at Home, Crispy Crust, Rich Filling, Simple Method

I didn't want to waste half a jar of pizza sauce, so I baked a pizza today. Although I used the word 'again', this is my second time baking a pizza. I saw someone eating pizza on TikTok yesterday when I was browsing, which aroused my appetite, but at this special time I don't want to go out to eat, so let's make it myself. I ordered ingredients online, and as soon as the ingredients arrived, I started immediately. Kneading dough, making sauce, and preparing all the ingredients for decoration were done in one go. When the pizza came out of the oven, I found it wasn't very successful, the crust was too thick, and it couldn't be pulled into a thin strip.

Although disappointed, I was not defeated. Besides, there was half a jar of pizza sauce that couldn't be wasted. So I started looking for recipes and watching videos to find out where I went wrong.

Today I ate breakfast and had a piece of noodles, and thought about trying again. Unexpectedly, after making some adjustments, this time it really succeeded! The crust was medium-thick and crispy, the filling was fragrant and creamy, and it could even be pulled into a thin strip. It looked good, tasted great, and even my picky son said it was delicious! I was excited and posted it on WeChat Moments first, then carefully wrote down the recipe for reference. It turns out that looking at the food seems complicated, but it's actually very simple to make. Now, let's take a look at the detailed operation.

Pizza with Mixed Ingredients

Crust Ingredients:100g high-gluten flour, 1 egg, 1g yeast, 5g sugar, 1g salt, 10g edible oil, 20ml warm water

Pizza Sauce Ingredients:10g butter, 3/1 onion, 1 tomato (both onion and tomato are normal size), salt to taste

Pizza Filling:21

Amount:1 baking tray (8 inch)

Baking:Oven 200 degrees Celsius, 15 minutes

Specific steps:

1In a basin, measure in 100g high-gluten flour, 1g yeast, 5g sugar, 1g salt, and 1 egg. Add 20ml warm water and stir with a chopstick until the flour forms a large crumb. Add about 20ml of edible oil (corn oil or butter), and knead into a dough that is slightly softer. (In fact, 100g of flour and 1 egg can basically form a hard dough, but for pizza dough, it needs to be softer, so I added about 20ml of warm water.)

2After shaping the dough, place it on a cutting board and knead it until it becomes soft and smooth. Then cover the dough with a basin and place it in a warm place to rise twice its size. (After the dough is soft and smooth, it’s almost done, of course, it’s best if it’s kneaded into a film, but it’s too tired, so just try to knead it a little longer.)

3This is the pizza sauce I made yesterday, I didn’t take pictures, I’ll explain it specifically here.

Prepare a piece of about 10g butter, melt it in a frying pan over low heat, add chopped onions, and stir-fry until the onions are slightly browned, then add chopped tomatoes, a little salt, and continue to stir-fry over low heat until the tomatoes become a sauce and are quite viscous, then turn off the heat and let it cool.

4After preparing the pizza sauce, prepare the ingredients to be placed on the pizza surface, 2 pieces of ham sliced thickly, 1 bell pepper cut into circles, peas and corn kernels, pre-boiled in water, drained and prepared, mozzarella cheese pre-frozen, take out and thaw at room temperature. (My ingredients are relatively simple, whatever is at home is used, actually it’s really wanted to put in several large shrimp, some mushrooms, but didn’t want to go out to buy, so just like this.)

5After the dough rises, simply knead and shape it on a cutting board. If it's a little sticky, smear a little edible oil, and then use a rolling pin to roll it into a round crust about 8 inches in diameter. The aim is to make the middle thick and the edge thin, then poke some small holes in the crust with a fork to prevent the crust from expanding during baking, and also to facilitate the flavor of the pizza sauce to permeate the crust.

6Grease the baking tray with a little edible oil, place the rolled crust in the tray, and tidy up the shape of the crust, trying to make it with a thin middle and a thick edge, then use a fork to poke some small holes in the crust to prevent the crust from expanding during baking, and also to facilitate the flavor of the pizza sauce to permeate the crust.

7Preheat the oven, 200 degrees Celsius, 15 minutes. Place the pizza in the middle layer of the oven, and bake for 10 minutes before pausing, then take the pizza out of the oven, sprinkle mozzarella cheese on the surface, and add peas and corn kernels, and finally arrange the ham slices.

8Re-enter the pizza into the middle layer of the oven, continue at 200 degrees Celsius, and bake for 5 minutes. When the cheese on the surface is melted, you can take it out of the oven.

After baking, the pizza smells fragrant and tempting. Cut a piece and take a bite. The crust is crispy and fragrant, the filling is creamy and delicious, and it's very satisfying!

A 8-inch pizza costs at least 40 yuan to eat outside, it’s much cheaper to make it yourself at home. The method is simple, and you can also change the fillings according to your own preferences. If you or your family also like to eat pizza, then you can try making it yourself!

Some reminders:

1The first time I didn't make it successfully because the crust was too thick, and it was baked into a large Shandong-style pie. Making an 8-inch pizza with about 100g of flour and forming a dough is enough.

2Mozzarella cheese is best to add in two layers, the top layer can wait to be put into the oven to bake for a while before taking it out to add, so that it doesn’t dry out when baking.

3The dough needs to be made softer, so that the pizza crust is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

4The baking temperature is 200 degrees Celsius, but the time needs to be adjusted according to the situation of your home oven, others bake for 25-30 minutes, my home oven bakes for 20 minutes and starts to brown, so I adjusted it to 15 minutes.

5The ingredients placed on the pizza surface should not use ingredients that are easy to drip water, to prevent the ingredients from separating from the crust when baking; I added several small tomatoes, and almost separated the crust and filling. If you want to use it, you can pre-fry the ingredients that are easy to drip water, or fry them in a pan without oil first.
