If you use the same feed all year round, some are considered for the price of the feed, and some are just for keeping the pigeons. As long as they are not starving, some pigeons don't matter!
Here are methods that are cheaper than any mixed feed. The only shortcoming is that lazy people can't accept it. The process is to first make red soil and grain. Second, mix corn and sorghum with a ratio of 5:1. Third, prepare young pigeon feed. Then prepare a measuring cup with a scale. The method is to have all 12 pigeons in a full state, use 12 measures of feed, put it in the cup to calculate. In the first 45-60 days, it is 30% red soil grain, 30% corn and sorghum, and 40% young pigeon feed. In 60-90 days, it is 40% red soil grain, 30% corn and sorghum, and 30% young pigeon feed. In 90 days to training, it is 40% red soil grain, 40% corn and sorghum, and 20% young pigeon feed. When training to 200 kilometers or more, it is 45% red soil grain, 45% corn and sorghum, and 10% young pigeon feed. The more you increase the ratio of corn and sorghum, the faster the peak comes, but you must pay attention to the weight of the pigeons. Adjust the weight by increasing the proportion of red soil grain. Pigeons will eat when they are full, so they can fly. A very full pigeon basically can fly home.
One or two hours is enough! I don't advocate dividing feed into five, six, seven, or eight parts! Pigeons need to eat enough, and it's not easy to make them eat enough. Don't worry about how many parts they eat. Because the trained birds also need to eat enough, and it's illogical to make horses run without letting them eat grass.
The temperature of pigeon feet is subtle. Pigeons’ body temperature is higher than humans, so it’s easy to feel it without a thermometer. The basic body temperature of pigeons is around 40°C, and it's around 41°C during egg-laying. When preparing for private training and putting them in cages, they use their feet to feel the temperature. If the feet are particularly cold, if the training distance is not too far, besides marking it as a special note in the training record, it's also an important object. If the training distance is 150 kilometers or more, they generally don't go to release it! Because these pigeons have a high rate of netting, besides reducing unnecessary losses, training during the decline of the pigeon’s physical fitness is counterproductive. It is rare for domestic pigeon keepers to pay attention to the temperature of the pigeon’s feet. Perhaps some people still say that their pigeon’s feet are cold, and they can still fly and become champions or gain prizes! In fact, they are just opposing, and they don’t know how to pay attention to the pigeon’s foot temperature. Just like when you first come to Sichuan, people often say, ‘Pigeons don’t need to be trained and released to compete!’ Now, who still cares about these vicious and misleading words for novice pigeon keepers?’
How many pigeon keepers ask how to identify a good pigeon? It sounds difficult, but explaining the basic principles is not easy! Group the various breeds that I have been exposed to over the past few decades in a simple way, so that pigeon keepers can understand it easily. Then enter breeding and pairing, which is more familiar. First, body type, feather color, and characteristics of long, medium, and short-distance pigeons. Second, the weather of good and bad pigeons' eyes. Third, bloodline classification. There are five major breeds in Europe's long-distance races: Belgian’s Brabant pigeons, Streek’s Bouter, Netherlands’ Yang A-Teng, Van Wang Rui 90, and Wandewei Green. Brabant pigeons are the most beautiful and have the best physique, mainly gray pigeons with a long and stout shape. Streek’s Bouter has the worst physique and feathers, mostly dark spots and dark gray. Yang A-Teng has a good physique and eyes. Van Wang Rui 90 is a long, black-spotted pigeon with a red mane color, and the copper eye is a characteristic. Wandewei Green is a combination of Yang A-Teng and Van Wang Rui 90, mainly yellow eyes!
Do pigeon keepers really use a drug to detoxify racing pigeons? Chinese pigeon keepers have used too much antibiotics, not just overusing them, but they have reached a supercharged level! As soon as pigeons change their environment, they get sick, and as soon as they are put in a large-scale training, they refuse to eat and discharge water, and all kinds of medications are used, such as three-day mite, three-day insect, three-day bacterial, airway cleaning, and intestinal inflammation. All for three days, half a month is spent on antibiotics. How can they get adenovirus? Insect, bacterial, intestinal inflammation, these medicines don’t work. Then add more adenovirus medicine, if this medicine is effective, why don’t they prevent it before large-scale competition? Is it the pigeons who are sick, or the people who are sick? I’m really confused.
The cage is matched with specific details. When I received a call from a pigeon keeper in Guangdong, I first congratulated Mr. Wu on his 500-kilometer competition, breaking the local record. Before putting the breed pigeon into a cage for pairing, all the adjustments are necessary. No matter whether the pair has been paired before or not, first put the female pigeon in to adapt for one or two days, so that she can occupy a place and have a sense of territory. Then observe the droppings to see if they are normal. After two days, put the male pigeon in for pairing, and in the next one or two days, if the droppings are abnormal, it is definitely a problem with the male pigeon. If you think this is too complicated, you can put the male and female pigeons in at once, then it will often cause family conflict, the female pigeon will be beaten, and she may even lose her eyes. If you think it's too troublesome to do this, then you can simply put the male and female pigeons in together, which is a dangerous pairing method!
Why did the couple fight? Because they were separated for a long time, and the male pigeon’s sexual desire produced a strong demand, so he was eager to mate. The female pigeon didn’t cooperate, so she used a strong attack to force the female pigeon to be submissive, so she would fight. If you first put the female pigeon in the cage for one or two days, the situation would change. The female pigeon has a sense of territory in the cage, so it can suppress the male pigeon’s overexcited behavior and reduce her own damage. As soon as the female pigeon matures, she will naturally form a loving couple. Some pigeon keepers put the male pigeon in the cage, or because they save time, they put the male and female pigeons in together, which is a dangerous pairing method!
How to improve the speed in the competition? When the pigeon keeper receives or introduces new pigeons, pay attention to the behavior of these pigeons in the pigeon house. This new pigeon will certainly occupy a place, and other pigeons will attack it, so it will constantly change its position until it finds a safe place where no one attacks it. In the same racing area, find a pigeon keeper who is like-minded, and three days before the competition, send the pigeons to his home, of course, he can also send his pigeons to you. A good method is to tell a good friend, and everyone share the victory of the competition. The pigeons should be kept until the afternoon of the third day before the competition, and the pigeons in the empty shed can play happily, so they can feel the fear of being caught. The next day, you can do home flying or training 3-50 kilometers. Believe that the pigeons will have the fear of the unfamiliar environment after this.
Before releasing these registered pigeons, notify the friend at home to keep an eye on them. At this time, the pigeon at home should not be flying at home. Let these pigeons come to your home. When they come back, one by one, catch them and examine them. Don’t let the pigeons fly home today after returning from the competition. Then let all the pigeons in the home fly home. Let them play happily in the empty shed, so that they can feel the fear of being caught. The next day, you can do home flying or training 3-50 kilometers.
