Scarlet Macaw (Indian Pond Heron) Mistakenly Enters Residential Area, Promptly Rescued by Police
Yunnan Net News (correspondent Zhu Wenping, Guo Xin) On February 27th, the Lushi County Forest Public Security Bureau of Honghe Province, Yunnan, received a report stating: A 'strange chicken' with alternating red and yellow feathers, very beautiful, appeared in the residential area. Residents of the community were worried that the animal would run rampant, potentially spreading germs, so they chose to report it.

The Lushi County Forest Public Security Bureau police officers arrived to handle the situation with capture tools. After identification, it was a national Grade II key protected wild animal, the Indian Pond Heron, mainly distributed in China and Myanmar.
Subsequently, the police carefully 'examined' the Indian Pond Heron, found no signs of injury, and its vital signs were normal. The police speculated that the residential area is located near the forest, this Indian Pond Heron was likely to run out of the forest to forage, mistakenly entered the residential area.

Currently, the Indian Pond Heron is temporarily being fostered by the local Forest Grass Bureau's Wild Plant Protection Department for further observation and will be released back into nature.
