Five Cities Where Name Changes Were Successful
As times continue to develop, city renaming is perfectly normal. Some cities were once obscure before renaming, and after changing their names, they suddenly gained prominence, as if turning over the fortune.
I. Zhangjiajie
Beautiful Zhangjiajie was originally named Dayong City. It was only in 1994 that it was renamed Zhangjiajie. The beautiful scenery and famous tourist attractions attracted many visitors, which also boosted the development of Zhangjiajie. Huanglong Cave, Tianshan Mountain, Baifeng Lake, etc., are all worth visiting. Friends who like to travel can also go to Zhangjiajie for a walk.
II. Shangri-La
The former Shangri-La used to have a very ordinary name – Middleton County. After being renamed Shangri-La in 2001, the historically rich and naturally beautiful Shangri-La has seen a visitor reception volume exceeding 10 million. When people mention Shangri-La, they seem to be able to see the emerald green grasslands and mountains and lakes, which is the yearning of countless people.
III. Jiuzhaigou
'Come back to Jiuzhaigou and don't look at water'. As one of China's famous tourist resorts, Jiuzhaigou is renowned both domestically and internationally. Jiuzhaigou was originally named Nаньpíng County. It was only in 1998 that it was renamed Jiuzhaigou. Here it is like a fairy world lost in the human world. The mountains, water, and scenery are beautiful.
IV. Wuyishan
When talking about Chong'an County, some people may be a little confused, but when talking about Wuyishan, I believe everyone has heard of it. Wuyishan was originally named Chong'an County. It wasn't until 1989 that it was renamed. Wuyishan is famous for the World Heritage Site of Wuyishan. Famous tea gardens such as Da Hong Pao, Jin Junmei, and Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong Tea are all located in Wuyishan. After Chong'an County was renamed Wuyishan, people suddenly remembered the beautiful Wuyishan, which further increased the fame of Wuyishan.
V. Dalian
Over 100 years ago, Dalian was still just a small fishing village by the sea. After further development, it was named Lida City. It wasn't until 1981 that Lida City was approved by the State Council to be renamed Dalian City, and it has been used until now. Today, Dalian is already famous throughout China and abroad, attracting many domestic and foreign tourists to come for sightseeing and travel.
