Yuyang District Restores Opening of Scenic Areas; Construction of Maohuangliang Loess Soil Landform Park Commenced

West Net Yuyang (Reporter Li Ming, Intern Reporter Gao Tao) On April 1st, Yuyang District held the 2020 Beautiful Yuyang Culture and Tourism Activity Launch Ceremony and the Construction Commencement Ceremony of Maohuangliang Provincial Loess Soil Landform Park. Reporters learned from the scene that Yuyang District will restore the opening of all A-level scenic areas, rural tourism demonstration villages, museums, and memorial halls, and simultaneously launch 42 annual 'Beautiful Yuyang' culture and tourism activities; the construction of the Maohuangliang Loess Soil Landform Park is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

It is reported that the 'Beautiful Yuyang' Culture and Tourism Activity started in 2011 and has been continuously held for nearly 10 years. The 2020 'Beautiful Yuyang' Culture and Tourism Activity will run throughout the year and cover the entire district, integrating and launching 42 cultural and tourism activities, including the 'Five Halls and One Center' Culture and Tourism Carnival, 'Belt and Road' Culture and Tourism International Exchanges, and the 4th Desert Marathon Race. It will highlight cultural inheritance, civilized practice, sports and health, folk customs, and many other fields, covering leisure and vacation, mass sports, photography and calligraphy, folk song culture and creative products, homestay experience, and gourmet food and catering.
The construction commencement ceremony of the Maohuangliang Loess Soil Landform Park, approved as a provincial geological park in December 2019, has a total planning area of 37 square kilometers, involving 5 categories and more than 50 geological heritage sites, including loess peak rock formations, Quaternary strata sections, desert landscapes, and fossil geological heritage sites. It is currently the only one in China that can simultaneously view loess and desert landform geological heritage sites. This year, a total investment of 70 million yuan will be made to build a loess soil landform museum, a loess art exhibition hall, a parking lot, a scientific tourism trail, a visitor service center, and part of the scenic infrastructure, and it is expected to open to the public at the end of the year.

During the event, traditional Shaanxi folk songs and (suona) performances were staged, and groups of calligraphy, photography, and creative products, as well as local delicacies, were exhibited and sold. The event was full of the lush spring vibes of the Loess Plateau. At the ceremony, the local government also awarded plaques to key cultural and tourism scenic areas, provincial and municipal level tourism characteristic towns, provincial and municipal level tourism demonstration villages, and Yuyang District study and research bases.
It is reported that this year, Yuyang District has planned a total of 30 cultural and tourism key projects with a total investment of 110.79 (yuan), and an annual investment plan of 12.94 (yuan); it has planned 13 major pre-project items with a total investment of 36.7 (yuan), including the protection of the Great Wall archaeological site, themed cultural parks, and tourism infrastructure, which are divided into six categories.
