Valley B&B – Stone Gate Half Mountain Hotel
Located in the middle section of Mount Xia Hua, Stone Gate Half Mountain Hotel is situated north-south, with mountains enclosing it on all sides, featuring towering and-like terrain. The main structure comprises three three-story small buildings arranged in a U-shape, connected by staircase corridors.
The central hall and the building on the west side are extended with a SPA center and hot tub, pool. The restaurant is situated independently on the eastern side of the three main buildings, also consisting of three buildings linked by a glass corridor. A total of six small buildings are arranged along the mountain slope, lower on the west and higher on the east, sequentially.
The entrance wall of the first-floor main building is entirely demolished and replaced with an overhanging gallery, creating a guiding entrance and rain shelter.
Underneath the overhanging gallery on the first floor, a steel-structured observation deck is added on the second floor, enhancing the connection with the outdoors.
The east and west buildings face south, with a small stepped back on each floor level, utilizing the plasticity of this structure to widen the eaves of each floor, strengthening this staggered effect and making the building more expansive. The added area forms an outdoor viewing room for the viewing room, directly facing the mountain view.
Previously narrow and cramped east and west balconies have been expanded into angular balconies, guiding people's sight towards the mountain view.
The stone strips in the long corridor and staircase corridor, after ball mill water washing, have smooth edges and a matte, light gray finish, evoking a sense of history.
A wooden slat grid is used on the roof deck, railings, and building facades. This creates a light filtering effect on the building facade, generating a delicate and mysterious atmosphere, contrasting with the heaviness of the stone. Simultaneously, the wooden railings protect the privacy of the interior.
When looking from indoors to the outdoors, the inclined eaves and wooden grids create a framing effect, horizontally framing the mountain view in sight. The objects in the sight are particularly simple and quiet.
These stones present different appearances, textures, and tactile sensations, evoking different emotions, guiding the entire building body to naturally emit its supposed atmosphere.
