Largest and Most Beautiful Reservoir in Maoming - Gaozhou Reservoir (also known as 'Yuhua')
Gaozhou Reservoir is located in the northeastern part of Gaozhou City, 25 kilometers from the city center, with a collection area of 1002 square kilometers and a storage capacity of 11.5 billion cubic meters. It is one of the top 100 reservoirs in China and the largest reservoir in Maoming City.

Gaozhou Reservoir, also known as Yuhua, is a painting depicting mountains and waters, with a serene and beautiful landscape, with picturesque scenery. The lake water and sky are as blue as the mountains, and a gentle breeze brings a thin mist that swirls around the mountains and water, creating a fairy-like scene. On the hillside of Gaozhou Reservoir, there is also 'Green Water Mountain Villa', where you can enjoy the lake and mountain scenery. It possesses unique natural conditions of 'greeting the rising sun, bidding farewell to the setting sun, counting stars and bathing in the moon, and enjoying the wind and green'.

Sculptures adorn Yuhua, and when people come to the memorial, they immerse themselves in the imagination of the solid copper statues, watching them with broad shoulders and strong arms, bringing people back to the scene of thousands of workers building and constructing the dam, carrying earth and mud with their shoulders and hands, with a rhythmic 'ah yo, ah yo' sound.

Deep in the vast Gaozhou Reservoir, there is a small island called Mo Pan Ling, with two tombs on the island: the tomb of Tsi-fun's husband, Bao, and the tomb of Wèi, the ancestor of the Wèi family who protected the border during the Ming Dynasty.

However, the current condition of Gaozhou Reservoir is not optimistic, with severe eutrophication. Due to the large-scale use of fertilizers and pesticides in agricultural production, especially fruit tree planting, in the reservoir area, as well as pollution from domestic and sanitary garbage, the water quality of the reservoir has produced a large amount of organic pollution in recent years. According to relevant measurements, the eutrophication evaluation of the reservoir water quality indicates that the water quality has exceeded the moderate eutrophication level. Therefore, we should appreciate its beauty while also taking good care of it, let 'Yuhua' remain 'Yuhua' forever, not just for one generation!
