Visiting the Peach Blossom Source: Ancestral Worship

In April, spring blooms and the flowers are in full bloom, just in time for the annual Chinese traditional festival, Qingming Festival. The Peach Blossom Source Scenic Area is filled with exceptionally vibrant peach blossoms.

Qingming Festival, also known as (Tàqīng jié), (Xíngqīng jié), (Sānyuè jié), and (Jìzǔ jié), falls at the transition between Zhongchun and Muchen. Qingming combines both natural and humanistic elements, serving as a seasonal festival point and a traditional holiday. Qingming is a traditional major spring festival for ancestor worship, involving visiting tombs to pay respects to ancestors and reflect on their lives. This is a cherished tradition of the Chinese people over thousands of years, not only promoting filial piety and family relationships but also strengthening family and national cohesion and identity. Qingming Festival integrates natural seasonal changes with human customs, representing a harmonious combination of 'Heaven, Earth, and Humanity.' It reflects the Chinese people's ancestors' pursuit of harmony between nature, environment, and human society, emphasizing the importance of following natural laws and seasonal rhythms. The customs of Qingming Festival are rich, with tomb sweeping and outing to enjoy the spring being the two main rituals. These traditions have been passed down through generations and remain unbroken to this day.

On Qingming Festival (April 5th) at 14:00, the Peach Blossom Source Scenic Area will hold a grand 'Qingming Ancestral Worship Ceremony' in the Shan Shi Hui Guan (Shaanxi Merchant Guild Hall) to promote 'The Root of Chinese Civilization and the Source of Culture,' promote the spirit of the Chinese nation, advocate for ancestor worship and filial piety, enhance ideological cohesion, and directly recreate ancient Chinese ancestral rituals, showcasing the scenic area's ancient buildings and its preservation of traditional culture.

The Peach Blossom Source Scenic Area cordially invites you to worship ancestors and enjoy the peach blossoms this year, experiencing the unique charm of the scenic area's ancient buildings and traditional culture.
