Moonlight Bay Creek Residents in Wannan Have a Thousand-Year-Old Ancient Tree, Whose Fruit is Used to Make Tofu
I've heard about the winding mountain road in Anhui's Wannan Mountains, often called the 'Anhui Tibetan Line,' for quite some time and finally had the chance to explore it recently, taking advantage of some free time.
This road is located in the beautiful small city of Xing county in Wannan, specifically in Cai Village Town's Moonlight Bay Scenic Area, east of the county seat by about 20 kilometers. I believe it's called the 'Anhui Tibetan Line' because of the rugged road and its unique scenery—though not as high as the Sichuan-Tibet Line, it has its own charm, giving me a 'sky-reaching' feeling!
In the scorching summer heat, the mountains were lush and green, with towering peaks; the Qingxi River flowed eastward, crystal clear. I enjoyed the sunshine, high mountains, and clear springs. The sounds of wind, trees, and water filled the air, and I completely immersed myself in nature, feeling refreshed and delighted!
As I entered the mountains, the temperature immediately dropped. If I arrived early enough, I could even see translucent dew, with a significant difference in temperature compared to the city. I'd like to introduce Moonlight Bay Scenic Area, specifically the Xizhu Mountain Guesthouse, which is a well-known guesthouse along the Wannan Tibetan Line. The building design is entirely eco-friendly, incorporating local cultural resources, with a garden pavilion that blooms with flowers year-round, surrounded by bamboo forests and streams, perfect for swimming and rafting!
Outside, there were blooming '' (Chinese hibiscus) and azaleas. In the distance, I could hear birdsong. By the window, the moon shone through the branches, and the nearby stream flowed gently. The sky was filled with twinkling stars. At one point, we could truly experience the tranquil and quiet charm of Wannan rural life!
Here, you can savor authentic Anhui cuisine, with specialties like flower mushroom and frog, local river fish, bamboo shoots with pork, and roasted whole lamb. The guesthouse has its own vegetable garden, providing fresh, homegrown produce. Guests can even participate in harvesting!
Most notably, there's a thousand-year-old tree outside, its fruit used to make tofu, and the tofu is fresh and smooth, healthy and green. You can eat this tofu in any way – in soup, cold dishes, or with meat. This purely natural food is non-toxic, so you can enjoy it with confidence!
