The landforms within Alshan National Forest Park belong to the western volcanic lava terrain of the Xinganling area. Due to the blockage of volcanic lava and water erosion, a series of truncated cone volcanoes have been created. The park has three rivers: Harahha River, Chihai River, and Emin River, as well as many lakes.

The Nenhe, which is located in Xing'an Province, Alshan City, remains unfrozen even in winter. 'Nenhe' is named because the river water is hot and flowing, never freezing for centuries. In winter, the Nenhe is desolate, and most of the scenic area hotels are closed. The Nenhe River segment is 20 kilometers long. In sub-zero temperatures, why does the Nenhe phenomenon occur? This is mainly due to the presence of large amounts of geothermal activity in the surrounding area, which prevents the river water from freezing, keeping it flowing and releasing steam.

Small Tip

1. The average winter temperature in Inner Mongolia is about 0 to -30 degrees Celsius, and some areas may reach -40 degrees Celsius. Clothing should be lightweight, comfortable, athletic, and warm. Prepare quick-drying, moisture-wicking long-sleeved shirts and pants. Recommend Coolmax material, sweaters, and leggings. Socks, recommend Coolmax material, 3-4 pairs, at least one pair of wool socks. Anti-slip warm gloves 1-2 pairs, hats, scarves. Recommend GoreTex or eVENT fabric for waterproof and windproof pants. Fleece jackets, fleece pants, down jackets, down pants, waterproof high-top mountaineering shoes 1 pair.

2. In northern China, roads are often covered with ice and snow, and the road surface is slippery. It is best to wear snow-proof anti-slip cotton shoes. The cotton inside should be filled with cotton and wool, and the boot shaft should be slightly higher to protect the ankles. The cotton shoes should have insoles, and the shoe size should be larger than normal shoes to give the feet space in the shoes, which helps to promote blood circulation!
