One of the ‘50 Scenery of Yellow River’ in China! A Local Unsolved Mystery: Sand That Makes Sound
In the vast world, nothing is impossible, have you ever seen sound-producing sand? Today, let's talk about one of the '50 Scenery of Yellow River' in China, and there's an unsolved mystery – sand that makes sound! This mysterious attraction is Xiangsha Bay!

Xiangsha Bay is located in Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, belonging to Xiangsha Bay Tourist Resort in Dalate Banner. It is a national 4A-level tourist resort. The most impressive thing about Xiangsha Bay is the local 'mystery of sounding sand.' What sounds can Xiangsha Bay make? How do they make those sounds?
The sounds produced by Xiangsha Bay are diverse, with light sounds resembling frogs 'quacking' and heavy sounds like cars and airplanes roaring. The pitch is all over the place, like a symphony. When you take the cable car to the top of 'Yinken' sand dune, you can hear these sounds along the way, which is very magical.
Xiangsha Bay has a peak of 110 meters and a width of 400 meters. The terrain is crescent-shaped and distributed with a slope of 45 degrees, forming a huge sand dune echo wall. Such terrain can amplify the sounds of Xiangsha Bay. However, the true cause of the sounding sand remains unexplained to this day.
Scientists have various theories, some are based on geographical environment explanations, some are based on friction static electricity explanations, and some people proposed the 'resonance box' theory, but all these theories are still debated, and no one knows the true answer.

Besides having an unsolved mystery, Xiangsha Bay also has the world's longest camel team! The number of camels in the camel team exceeds 500, which is the first in the world. In 2018, Xiangsha Bay was rated as 'one of the 50 Scenery of Yellow River', and it receives a huge number of tourists every year. Were you one of them?
