Jimin Takes You on a Tour of China – Anhui Huangshan
In the previous article, the author has provided a very detailed explanation and description of the exam for the tour guide certificate, the interview, the practice of hanging, and the free admission to the scenic area. Readers can select relevant articles from my personal homepage for their reference.
Starting from this article, I will launch a completely new series – introducing all the scenic spots across China. My introductions will be different from others because there are so many descriptions of scenic spots online, and I believe everyone has already read them. I will focus on the overlooked attractions within the scenic areas, the necessary precautions for visiting the scenic area, and the secrets that are rarely known within the scenic area. I will not describe the basic overview of the scenic area again. I will start with Anhui Province today, and I will introduce Yellow Mountain.
1. Lotus Peak and Cloud Peak will not be open simultaneously
This point is particularly important. The two most distinctive peaks in Yellow Mountain will not be open at the same time.
These two peaks undergo a five-year rotation. Since Lotus Peak is the highest and Cloud Peak is the most dangerous, Lotus Peak tests your mental and physical endurance, while Cloud Peak tests your physical fitness. Therefore, these two peaks require periodic maintenance and cleaning. The five-year period is a scientifically estimated time for experts to conduct inspections, maintenance, cleaning, and conservation. Lotus Peak opened in 2019 and will be open for five years, so if you're planning to climb a specific peak, remember to calculate the time of your visit and check which peak is open at that time!
2. Take the cable car halfway up

When traveling to Yellow Mountain, most people choose to take the cable car to the middle of the mountain first and then start climbing. Since Lotus Peak is the highest peak in Yellow Mountain, most people will choose to climb it. When we walk up the steps, we'll reach around 1400 meters, and after climbing one step, you'll find a small pool on your left, with very cold water. If you have a towel with you, you can wash the towel with the water or wash your face with it. It will give you a new boost of energy! Don't forget to check it out!
3. Don't throw litter casually down the mountain
I used to think that throwing litter down the mountain is the same as throwing garbage down from a building. However, the reality is completely different. All the litter thrown from the mountain has been piled up at the bottom. Surrounded by mountains on all sides, it is very difficult to clean up. Each time the cleaning staff enters the valley with the help of safety ropes to clean up the garbage. Therefore, please throw your trash into the trash cans!
4. It's important to bring your own food
Back in the early days, a bowl of fried rice in a restaurant on Yellow Mountain cost 78 yuan. Friends can bring light and convenient food to the mountain. If you plan to spend the night, consider bringing instant noodles or self-heating rice.
